Using 60 years of results from the top four leagues and the FA Cup, the Telegraph has come up with an Excitement Index by using factors such as promotions, titles, relegations (excitement cuts both ways), goals per game, win percentages and cup runs.
Revealed: How exciting your football team has been to support since 1958 - where does your club rank?

Out of all the teams that have played in the Football league over that time, Wolves come out 4th overall just behind Manure, the Scousers and Chelski.

Note: you've got to scroll down to 56th before you come across the ****e :D

Shame they didn’t make it the last 18 months. We’d be in the top two.

The 90s were woeful, but not as bad as the early to mid 80s

The 90s every year fail miserably to get promoted. Have at least one key player out for the season year in year out.

I seem to remember a long article in ALOB some 20+ years ago that used a basket of criteria including goals scored, goals conceded etc to prove definitively that Wolves were the most entertaining side in the history of world football. I think Aston Villa were in second place :)

It was an excellent piece of sophistry but sadly i don't think i have the relevant edition.

As a decade the 80s at least had two promotions three trips to Wembley and winning finalists twice.

    The highlight of the 90’s?
Two failed play offs and that semi at Villa Park!!

If there was an analysis of the supporters who suffered the most agony and depression Wolves would win by a country mile :D

How would you call the choke season?
I'm not sure you'd class it as exciting towards the end. Don't think I could sum up my feelings at the time. However, it certainly wasn't a dull and boring middle of the table season with nothing to play for.

As another who has clocked up 60+ years of support, I beg to differ. Watching Wolves is ALWAYS exciting... just a little bit less exciting in some decades than in others ;)

The freefall relegation seasons of the mid 1980s were not exciting.

If you look back over the past 40 seasons most have been boring mid-table or terrible relegations. Hardly exciting!!!!!! Tbh you could list the great/memorable league games (eg Leicester, Soton, Rotherham)easily on a single sheet of A4!!!!!

Totally agree guys, While we have suffered some awful years especially during the '80's, following Wolves has never been boring!!! :D:p
