I'd love good connection at the games, whether Wi-Fi or otherwise - not that I'd use it while the game is actually going on. Though I did used to enjoy checking on the comms thread on here to see reactions about offsides/tackles etc!

Infuriating how crap the signal is when I want to check my bets at half time....rest of the game I don't even think about my phone so doubt wifi would affect the atmosphere.

We have Wifi at the Levi stadium, the Avaya and the AT&T Park (now called the Oracle Pak as of yesterday). It's a must.

At the Levi stadium (where the 9ers play) you can order food and beer with your Levi stadium app and they ****ing deliver it to your seat.

Can’t say I’m too bothered either way. If the club can use it to generate a decent amount of extra revenue through advertising when people are logging-in then why not.

    Bloody WiFi.
Not for me. Turn my phone off.
Bets are placed, let them roll.
I'm there to sing, shout and abuse opposition fans and players.

Hows about a better range of beer and being a bit sharper at serving the stuff.

Quite happy to bring my own!!
Have to say one hip flask is never enough, well neither is two, but it beats the queues.

Can't get signal or network in the north Bonk, just how I like it, someone mentioned it at half time though that's not a bad shout, only thing I miss someone's is radio if folks by me are peeing me off, prefer to listen to commentary and scores, but I prefer to live without it

People pay their money they should be able to get WiFi or strong 4g in this day an age paying such outlay

If the person in front is on their phone then that’s there choice

I've got it but cant get a signal with mobile internet in the Mol. For the record its only worth us having wifi for HT if it doesnt cost too much.

It's hard to say without knowing what Molineux already has.

Seen a few switches in the Steve Bull to think there must be an onsite data centre somewhere.

You'd need miles and miles of fiber optic cable.
    Hundreds of wireless access points.
    Switches.
A data centre, air conditioned with dedicated power.
A couple of 10Gbps dedicated WAN connections with possibly a fail over connection.

A LOT of money. Easily 6 figures I'd have thought at a rough guess buying decent networking kit, which isn't cheap.

Read an article about an older stadium in Nebraska cost over $5 million. Most estimates on line say anywhere between 500k and 1 million

I'm over 40 and would like Wi-fi though I only look at my phone before and after the games and during half time but never during the game. I see the point about people being on their phones during the game, don't understand it myself unless it is to quick check a score or something, but then that's up to them if they want to waste £30 to sit and look at their phones it doesn't really affect me as I am busy watching the game!

Probably a lot easier to work with the mobile companies to boost the local cell capacity. Longer term, the stadium rebuild could easily and fairly cheaply incorporate the fibre backbone, switches, and wiring closets with the necessary power and cooling. In addition to the IT a large stadium needs in the base case, it should add significant incremental cost to the rebuild.

    Sounds about right.

I guess it would probably interest Wolves but not until the stadium is completed.

Think it would be cheaper to design and incorporate into the build.

What’s the point in going then? It’s like the ****s who film at gigs on their phones. Enjoy the moment that you’re there for. If you want to watch things back there’s more than enough chances on social media and YouTube. ****ers.

Completely agree, makes no logical sense to start now.

As for the phone networks, Vodafone and EE could provide more backhaul to the cells that are getting saturated.

Had no issues at all at Old Trafford. It can be done.

Don't think 3 or O2 would be interested though.

    The South Bank concourse?

I'm not bothered either way re: Wi-Fi, the lads who stay on their phones all game manage to do so already so it'd make little difference there. It'd save me a few pennies I suppose, I sometimes check the other team's players and the scores at half time.

Maybe people want to communicate family members? Or post picture event they’re at? Or check the scores of other games?

Blinkered not to think people have reasons for wanting WiFi

Maybe if the WiFi was on, and not trying to connect - people wouldn’t be on 24/7 in ground as would take seconds to connect

I'm one of the few that actually battles their way through to outside (Steve Bull side) instead of standing around inside.

Nah, it’d be the same ****e, had WI-FI in Russia for the WC and it was as bad if not worse than the 4g.
Think how many people will be trying to connect to it, it would be no better.

It's not an easy task providing high speed data, especially in a sports stadium where people are uploading clips etc.

In terms of connections, a 350Mb Virgin connection wouldn't cut it:D

People will see free Wi-fi and everyone will try and connect and it won’t be able to cope.

Chose option 1 but not because I would use it but for other people to use if they want.

I very rarely use public WiFi because when I have in the past it’s been terrible and it’s not secure.

I’d imagine the club already have it but not open to fans yet. It’s a must for the business elements within the stadium as well as security.
As a way of revenue I can see the bonuses of the club selling advertising and selling fans data (like all portals do).
I only ever look at half time normally at the mix etc but I’d rather have the option of getting signal or Wi-Fi than not. Ever since phones were common place I’d struggle at any ground to send messages etc I recall trying to call my dad when at the Millenium stadium.
The voting was a bit surprising but I’d imagine the younger under 20’s would really utilise it as they have the ability to take in their surroundings and use a phone.
