I've forgotten his name, he was an Eastern European player in the hoddle/mick era I think, he barely played for us but he looked class in the reserves.

Not Gabor Gyepes, this player was a midfielder for winger if I remember correctly

    Any help? :D

I know he wasn't eastern European but Jellé Van Damme?

In fact thinking about it he hardly played at all, never mind the reserves.

    From Wiki -

He moved on loan to English Championship side Wolves in January 2006 on a six-month trial contract, where he linked up with former Ferencváros teammate Gábor Gyepes. He made his debut for the club on 2 January 2006 in a 2–0 defeat at Coventry City, and went on to make nine league appearances in the rest of the campaign, scoring twice. At the end of the season, Rosa and Wolves agreed a three-year contract.[1]

However, the surprise departure of Glenn Hoddle and arrival of Mick McCarthy as manager in the summer saw him left out of first team contention afterwards. McCarthy admitted that Rosa may struggle to figure in his formation.[2] The midfielder was loaned to League One Cheltenham Town for a month in the spring of 2007, but he was then put on the transfer list by Wolves. He made a brief substitute appearance for Wolves in the League Cup during the following season, but despite a strong goalscoring record in reserve games, never featured in the first team again.

Rósa finally left Wolves on 13 January 2009

Remember seeing him score vs Cardiff in that game where their fans kicked off in the Steve Bull, thought he could have worked well in that early Mick side, but evidently not!

That's about the size of it. As much as Mick did for Wolves the work ethic was more important than skill and talent. But I guess that's kind of where we were at that time.

If I remember correctly he made a few appearances when we signed him and scored a couple, then got injured. After Hoddle left and Mick came in he didn't get much of a look in but did have a good spell in the reserves/ pre season ? where he scored quite a few and there was some speculation about whether he should be given another chance in the first team

I used to hope he'd be the player to lead us to the Premier League bonanza, or maybe a League Cup win like we had with "Crazy Hoss" in the side.

I vaguely remember people wanting him in the side. From memory I think he scored in about 7/8 games for the reserves but never got near the first team again.

Rosa looked pretty handy in the few games I saw him play.

As was Gyepes. He was particularly good I thought when played.
