What does "wat" mean?
I think the "west ham way" is something positive to hang on to when things are not well. It's born out of the Bobby Moore era when West Ham enjoyed moderate success and a prolonged period near the top.
It's like Wolves fans clinging to our past. Terms like "founder members" and "sleeping giant" were all bandied about during lean times. It's what fans do, focus on when times were better.

More a geographical thing in my case. Much like those annoying west ham fans I'm estuary.
