Come on Boro beat this ****ing horrible club, if you get the chance Danny leave one on Greasish.
Come on Boro, let's beat the Vile
Think @brightside will have just got his mojo back.
They seem to be going well at the moment, scored nearly as many goals in the last 6 days as we have all ****ing season.
Still pretty downbeat to be honest, please let us play well on Wednesday.
They are starting to look pretty good, unfortunately. The gap is narrowing considerably. ****s
Going to be some bitter people on here
Mind the Gap
Still not in the top six
I wouldnt mind Grealish so much if he played with studs in his boots
..and pulled his socks up, and had a proper haircut.
Where is he for assists? Not very high I'd guess, hence why they had to include 'most fouled'.
How many assists did neves have this time last year? He’s clearly one of the best midfielders outside the prem in england
One wasn't it? But Neves did play deep in midfield, is that where Grealish plays now?
Still out of top six
With the **** , Vile and Brum ****ty all getting very cosy, my dream is starting to take shape
I never look at this thread...well until now
I can't be obsessed enough
Have they been done for breaking ffp yet?
Mind the Gap
Now beat the ****e
Assists - 3 (equal 24th)
Goals - 2 (equal 82nd)
Would you say neves is one of the best in premier going to the top etc? His assists and goals are???
Ridiclous that midfielders are judged by goals and assists just shows how one dimensional people are
I asked the other day, but where is he playing this season? Last year he was an attacking midfielder so should have been judged on his assists and goals, if he's now playing defensive midfield then fair enough he's unlikely to get many goals or assists, but if he's still playing attacking midfield then you aren't comparing like for like with Neves.
Completely different players so not comparable I’m merely emphasising stats of midfielder aren’t a true reflection.
I haven’t see enough of villa to pinpoint his position he tends to drift across the entire middle, draws out defenders and buys cheap fouls as well as energising their team with his quick bursts.
He’s a fantastic midfielder, is he 50m like villa wanted? Nope! But would he be good addition to 12/13 premier teams? Hell yes
He plays an attacking role no doubt about it. In that role, he fails fairly badly in terms of his output.
More ridiculous that you continue to compare him with Neves.
An attacking midfielder absolutely should be contributing directly to goals. If not then they're nothing more than a show pony.
He is a show pony
A **** show pony at that
^^^^ this in spades
Gotta say he has disappointed this season, you've got to be getting goals and assists as an attacker at his age at that level if he really thinks he can play for England.
Grealish was playing more as a box-to-box midfielder under Bruce, and had to drop deep a lot, to get the ball. Since Smith came in he's been getting forward more, and has got a few assists and goals in that time. But still it's ridiculous to judge a midfielder soley on goals and assists, as there's so much more to their game, Grealish isn't always scoring or assisting, but he's usually central to Villa's attacking play in one way or another, because he's often assisting the assistor, making space for others, causing panic with runs into the box... Connor Hourihane gets plenty of goals and assists, but he's nowhere near as good as Grealish, in fact he's nowhere near as good as McGinn either, another who if you were judging him soley on goals and assists wouldn't look very good.
There's a reason why Tottenham bid £25m for him in the summer, he's a very good player.
Big in the Chump... SFW..
I would say that Spurs valuation was just testing the water
Helder Costa, no assists and one goal, Cavaleiro no assists and two goals, Jota no assists and one goal, Adama no assists and one goal... Going by your logic all these players are show pony's as well then, and they should be contributing to goals and assists more so than Grealish, given they play much further up the pitch.
But they do so in the Premier League where they are still finding their feet. Greasy is in the Chump, is unproven at the top level, and spends so much time on the floor on the grass that l think he's trying to fertilise it!
Stats of a midfielder aren't a true reflection? You're the one who posted his 'championship stats so far' then when two other stats are brought up then suddenly stats don't matter.
So he's still playing the same position as last season pretty much? Sort of a free role behind the forwards, an attacking midfielder? The fact you think buying cheap fouls is one of his main attributes says a lot. I've nothing against him, technically he's a good player and I want all English players to do well, I think he needs to add goals and assists to his game if he's playing in that position and should be getting 12-15 a season in the Championship if he wants to make it in the Premier.
Or another way to look at it is what did our players and Adama did in the Chump last season. I think they tore it a good one!!!
He wasn't always consistent, but he's proven he can do it at the top level, the season Sherwood came in, he played a big part Villa staying up and reaching the FA Cup final, was probably the best player on the pitch against Liverpool in the semi-final, he was still a teenager then as well... As for the Wolves players my point wasn't a criticism of them, just pointing out that stats don't tell the whole story.
The players you mentioned were consistent in the Champ but not consistent enough in the Prem. Grealish's problem is that he hasn't been consistent full stop.
Cavaleiro: 9 goals 12 assists
Costa: 5 goals 6 assists
Traore: 5 goals 10 assists
Jota: 17 goals 5 assists
But they are unfair comparisons. A more like for like comparison would be James Maddison (14 goals / 8 assists). In short, a proper attacking midfielder.
Tbf he hes not to bad, he can run with the ball and can change the rythm of the game, creating space for others as the opposition double up on him.
But what does he actually achieve, he doesnt score or assist, and as an attacking midfielder thats what he should be judged on.
He has potential and with decent coaching MIGHT become a decent premier league player, is he worth 25 million?
Not yet but maybe one day.
Think you might be missing the word 'yet' from your first sentence.. still early days...
