He'll have a nice spell at Jumilla next season
A certain amount of precedent there...
Really.. l thought that he was going to be a Vile full kit ****er... lol
U18's won 2-1 today. Austin Samuels with the winner.
HT 0-0 had most of the chances, well all tbf! Playing well just need a goal.
Cue them to pinch it now then
FT 0-0. Miles the better team but couldn’t finish our chances. Frustrating but a good performance. Still 2nd on the table I think.
Wow. This page hasnt been updated for ages! U18's in action tonight at Molineux against Wigan in 3rd round of FA Youth Cup. Good luck to the lads. The likes of Austin Samuels and Taylor Perry start for us and they are playing same formation as first team and u23's.
U23's beat Sunderland u23's 1-0 on Sunday at Sunderland. Burr with the winner in 85th minute.
U23s back to the top of the league.
U18's losing 1-0 to Wigan at Molineux. We aint very good in FA Youth cup!
You're bringing back memories of the 1958 2nd leg 6-1 win over Chelsea after losing the 1st leg 5-1.
Lost 2-1. Austin Samuels with goal. Not good enough really to be going out at the first hurdle yet again this season. Darren Ryan needs to be getting better results than U18's have been getting this season, in my opinion.
Did you go? They were kicked off the park according to my old man
Very physical side and the ref let over the top challenges go
Didnt go no mate. Just a bit disappointed in u18's results this season and they were very poor last season as well. Hopefully they will improve soon.
Not good enough surely when we are supposedly upgrading at youth level.
There always seem to be excuses but positive results do matter. The idea that its not about results but developing players rings very hollow to me. Losing to Wigan at home in this Fosun era? Unacceptable surely. Samuels seems to be the one bright spark with his goalscoring exploits.
Disappointing for the players I guess. At least the U23s are having a good season under Rob Edwards. Don’t know anything about the U18 manager so not fair for me to have a go at him but I wonder if Fosun are looking at bringing in better? Well it would be Kevin Thelwell or Scott Sellars who would make that choice I guess.
I agree Jade, but without going into too much detail it's much easier to invest into the u23's from a worldwide pool of players - whereas the u18's are mainly homegrown talents from the local area - some of which are often playing above their age range. Add in the fact that some of the better players will be pushed to play for the u23's and it makes it a very difficult age range to manage IMO.
It's alright saying 'Fosun won't stand for this' and similar which is something I often read - but I'm sure they understand that there are limitations lying around younger lads, catchment areas and the infrastructure - this is something that will have to be built upon year after year and we may not see the fruits of for some time. You don't just go out and spend hundreds of thousands or millions on 15-16-17 year olds, it's not possible - or shouldn't be - but that is possible with the u23's which is why we've seen a quick improvement.
Fair enough mate, I think the u18s is something that will improve in time. The u23's is different as we brought in a whole raft of players over the summer. Some of the u18s were told to expect to be advanced into the u23's but that never materialized due to recruitment so things are changing at a pace, I think the u18s and the rest of the academy will be more of a gradual process. If we can maintain our premier league status that will certainly help considering we have spent the majority of the last 20 years in the championship it's no wonder some of the best local talent went elsewhere - the premier league is where the most ambitious lads want to be.
Taylor Perry stretchered off with what looked like a bad injury.... playing with 10 men for most of the 2nd half as Chem Campbell was sent off
That's all very well but the Academy project has already being going on many years with Academy 1 status and with the club boasting how many resources they were putting into this area long before Fosun came on the scene. They have kept saying how good the Academy is. Even Morgan invested heavily. Sorry but all we ever hear are excuses. I know it is difficult getting the best players, especially in a local market where West Brom, Villa and Stoke for instance have spent long periods in the Premier League, unlike us, but nowadays I expect us to be at the head of the pack at all levels and I am sure Fosun do too. I want to see us in an FA Youth Cup Final not knocked out at the first or at best second stage by teams from often inferior clubs which seems to happen year after year.
Hopefully Ryan Giles gets a go in the first team in the near future. Looks an excellent prospect to me. Liverpool in the cup might be an option for him.
Good prospect is Perry. Hope he is ok.
no break but looks like ligament damage
A shame. Hope he is back out playing soon.
Still hoping it's bruising. MRI inconclusive due to swelling
Some good points, thanks! Like I say I don’t know enough about the U18s to make any kinda comment, wouldn’t be fair. But just looking from the outside, we don’t seem to be competing with the bigger clubs which is obviously where we want them to be. I guess it does come down to recruitment but you would hope with the finances, facilities and ambition at Wolves we’d be the most attractive club for young players round here. Maybe we’re not I dunno.
I go and watch the U23s by contrast and they play some brilliant football, same style as the first team. So there’s obviously good things happening!
Wolves U23 P-P Fulham U23
Frozzen pitch. Off to the pub instead I guess lol
My late mom used used to say she was frozzen
Wigans under 18s are top of there league, not the best footballing side I've seen at that level but always seem to win every week.
Perry's injury is just bruising by the looks of it. A couple of weeks rest over Christmas, should see him back in the new year.
Quite lucky it wasn't worse
Gareth Prosser is leaving to take up a new job in the FA:
Academy manager Gareth Prosser to depart Wolves
Bad news for the club but good for him personally, good luck to him.
great night for the u23's who beat the scum 4-2 away... goals from Kilman, Ennis, Goncalves & Buur
Cracking result for the U23s, always nice to smash the Albion. Have we gone back top?
Jumilla Wanderers also won away 0 - 3 today.
think that result puts us back at the top
