Excellent article and I love how it stresses the mental side of the game. Football intelligence, if you will, and you can clearly see how some of the players Nuno inherited have come on in this regard. Personally, I've never understood the need for players to cover so many miles in a game when all you really have to do is make the ball do the work.

"Forget the running - your head has to be quicker than your legs." - A simple concept but seemingly so difficult to execute.

Nuno's style is to compress play when we are defending and to expand it when we are attacking. It's fascinating to watch a side that understands the idea of "space" and how to utilize it to their advantage. It's a different side of the game and one not every football fan understands. Duggan explains it extremely well and for me the most telling comment was "In the past I'd look at whether I was creating chances, or if I could have got my shot off quicker. Now I'm looking at my positioning, where I should be to help the team. It's much less ball orientated, and much more about where I am on the field and how my positioning is helping another player."

The other comment I picked out was "Over here, the pass can come at your throat or your knees and everyone still expects to control it instantly." Once upon a time I thought this was a given for any professional footballer but seeing so many one footed players changed my thought process.

Probably a reference to the fact he started his career at Grimsby so would have experienced a very different culture early in his career.

Come on own up, who looked at the all the pictures first?

Got to admit I clicked thinking we were eyeing up some Italian-Brazilian centre forward from Barca's reserves.

Being serious for a second, the 'practice practice practice then practice again' statement is very much Nuno's philosophy.
Therefore Coady, Doc, and even Bennett come to mind. :)

As a cricket lover, I don't mind watching bits of the womens cricket. However, as a football lover, I have to say I find womens football really tedious to watch. I sometimes think a tennis match at Wimbledon (which I enjoy) between women can be better than watching men play. I have no particular interest in rugby (although I watch England in the 6 Nations) and so I haven't really seen any womens rugby.

On debate of women’s sport I don’t mind it being on, but don’t ram it in our faces

    Women pundits golf, cricket, football

I don’t mind if best qualified but a LOT getting fast tracked purely due to their sex

    It’s shameful

Women's football used to be comedy gold, but has come on a long way. Actually coaching the keepers to be half decent was a good start!

This women's La Liga sounds like a hidden gem of top quality football, does anyone know what channel it's shown on so I can avoid it?

If men that show so much disdain towards women’s football put half as much effort into respecting women and the sport, (despite their apparent inferiority) you might not be knuckle dragging virgins for the rest of your lives.

Another white knight who thinks defending women's sport and saying how much he respects the ladies will get him laid. It was a good tactic 20 years ago.

Actually, it's more that why should sport not be reported on because of the gender of those taking part? It's not defending it, it's just equality and showing some form of progression for young women that life a professional sportswoman is a possibility, or would you prefer all women stick to their gender defined roles?

That said, those that moan, you can simply, ignore it? Yet you go out of the way to berate something to tell other that you will ignore it, think of the irony of that, attention seeking much?

Sorry, what are you rambling on about? Where have I said it shouldn't be reported on or they shouldn't play football? I joined in a good debate on another thread and made some suggestions to improve women's football and said it could be a good game in its own right. Now you're typing at me as if you're copying from an equality pamphlet.

It’s nothing about being a White Knight, although I’m not sure what that actually means. Your inadequacies are not my concern, but there really is no need to be scared of women. Good luck with your virginity.

Well at least it was relevant to the link in the opening post, unlike your witterings in reply to me with made up scenarios where I apparently said it shouldn't be reported on and they shouldn't play the game. You sounded hysterical, dreaming up all these things I'd said.

I have no idea what the thread is about anyway, I'm guessing that Zigwolf thinks Bennett looks like Duggan.

Then suddenly @sc91 is frantically reeling off equality cliches at me.
