    Usual 'full team' plus Ruddy.

    Ruddy

    Bennett
    Coady
    Boly

    Doherty
    Neves
    Dendoncker
    Moutinho
    Jonny

    Jota
    Jimenez

    Norris
    Saiss
    Vinagre
    Gibbs-White
    Costa
    Cavaleiro
    Traore

If Nuno wants to put Saiss in the middle instead of Neves I wouldn't moan tbh. Donck and Moutinho must play with one other, though.

    Doherty Neves Dendoncker Jonny
    Moutinho
    Jimenez Jota
I think the line up against Cardiff was to give plenty of the usual cup starters some game time, because they ain't starting this one - including Ruddy

I'm not being funny but I think Vinagre's a better option than Jonny, both defensively and going forward. Not one of Jonny's biggest fans. Of course happy to be won over. Apart from that looks good. Saiss might feel a little hard done by but, as always, I'm sure he'll show his usual professionalism and get over it.

I hope you are right. As good as Ruddy is, this is too good an opportunity to progress for us to play our second best goal keeper.

Agreed . Would be a farce if we go out as a result of yet another mistake from him

That is the default line up I reckon ( except in goal) with specific tweaks based upon the opposition or other factors; I would not be unhappy to see Saiss for Bennett and/or Vinagre for Jonny though:
Other than that whatever Nuno says...

Hopefully our strongest line up, no ****ing about.
This is our chance to prove to the watching world, wolves have arrived at the top table.
Beat these and we win more than just a match, we amass more fans, more shirt sales and more respect.

Vinagre would bring an extra attacking option rather than Jonny. I feel United will score one or two so if we want to win we must attack and Vinagre is a better attacker than Jonny.
He’s fast and therefore would force their defenders back rather than moving up.

I think a few people are seriously underestimating Jonny here by saying Vinagre is a stronger choice. Vinagre played well against Cardiff yes, but before then he's been exposed defensively / average going forward on every other start for us this season. Undoubted potential but he can't be our first choice LWB yet.

Jonny has excellent positional sense, gets stuck in, rarely gets beat in a one-on-one and gets forward effectively. He's a much more solid choice against a team where we're going to need to really stick to our shape and go at the right times.

I'd pick Patricio but since Nuno is going with Ruddy, I'd go with this:

    Ruddy
    Bennett Coady Boly
    Doherty Saiss Dendoncker Moutinho Jonny
    Jimenez Jota

Yes, I wouldn't start Neves. Need somebody like Saiss in midfield for this sort of fixture really. I'd have been tempted to put him at CB instead of Bennett but I just feel we need his combative influence in the middle of the pitch. Adama is another consideration at RWB but that would be fraught with risk, considering their forwards. However, it could help pin ManU back a bit though so wouldn't mind seeing that change either.

Vinagre is great going forward but you would have to be mad to pick him over Jonny against a top side like Man Utd. It's the same risks associated with potentially putting Adama at RWB, albeit Doherty isn't strong as Jonny in a defensive sense anyway.

Neves plays every day of the week the key is to keep the ball don't want to be losing possession to teams like United then having to chase round trying to get it back. Nobody better than Neves to do that. Would love to see Neves getting more involved further forward but hes playing to instruction to shield the back 5 and receive the ball from them. Won't see him more advanced unless we are chasing a game by the looks of it

Moutinho and Dendoncker are as good as Neves at keeping possession. Plus both win the ball back a lot more times per game and don't try 3 hollywood passes and more long range shots per game which rarely go in/ break up our attack.
Don't get me wrong I like Neves, but some games like this the other 2 CM are different/ more intelligent footballers.

That’s a good point. i love Neves but he’s at his best dictating play from a defensive midfield position, in games like this he won’t have the luxury of sitting back and pinging the ball around.

The really bold move would be to play the team that started against Cardiff. It’s a risk, but if you could get Vinagre, MGW and Traore really firing, it would be a famous night.

Would you really play traore wing back against United? Cardiff played without a left winger that day which allowed traore the chance to not defend. Wouldn't like to see him in a team trying to defend personally

Let´s have Patricio on the bench for this one anyways.

He has a rep for being a decent penalty saver..and this could potentially go as far as penalties.

Might provide us with the opportunity to do a Krul on our opponents..who knows,it might be the factor that get us through.

Just think Ruben is a bit ineffective against a bigger more mobile midfield, Pogba and Herrera? Is their young lad McTominay any good?

Neves did ok at Old Trafford.
Didn’t he win the ball off Pogba to start the move for our goal.

What happened to Neves? Last year he was a god, maybe he still is.Posters we’re convinced he would be gone last January or this summer by the latest.
On the recent thread ‘who is the most valuable player this season so far’, he hardly got a mention.
I’m hoping he and Helder can be better just like a Jota did.

For those that dont want Neves in the Team on Saturday, I think you are being very very harsh, IMO he is definately playing under instructions from Nuno, and its detrimental to his own game in my opinion basically he is our defensive midfielder, He simply has to play in these type of games. I would prefer Nuno to allow him more freedom to express himself.

Saiss on the bench for me. He rarely impreses me. I appreciate a lot of people rave about him. Nevertheless if he starts I'll support him 100% as always.
