It really is blindingly obvious that that's the case, as much as I love Rui.

Nuno and the team quite quickly identified that as an issue, and have basically said "keep those kicks wide", as putting them down the middle could put us in a world of bother. Therefore, they've trained on hitting Doherty with the kicks/flick one.

This quote should automatically come up when you open Molineux mix.

Anyone who doesn't understand what JB is saying, refrain from commenting on Wolves players. :)

I mention it in the OP here

    John Ruddy

Some interesting views on Ruddy there, and considering practically 70% of people wanted him dropped for Norris (I wasn't one of them, by the way), why the hell are we having a conversation about him taking over from Patricio??!!

No, I don't want to see Ruddy have a run.

That would be kamikaze. Opposition lumping the ball towards an open goal while Ruddy is running around the town centre.

We've come on a lot over the last two years - but we're not good enough to let our keepers go out on a run during matches.

Ruddy is a more commanding presence in the penalty area and wouldnt be pushed around as easily ie Cardiff first goal. But i think Patricio is the better overall keeper i just think he flaps a little when under pressure which i didn't expect.
If i was Ruddy i would look for a move next season he's too good to sit on the bench.

It's not broken so don't try and fix it. Rui has won us more points than he has lost us this year. He's been culpable for a couple of goals conceded but so has Alisson for Liverpool who is considered by many to be the best in the business at the moment. In terms of commanding the box, this is a common trend for continental goalkeepers when they first arrive in the Premier League (take De Gea for example - appreciate he was a much younger keeper but he got battered from pillar to post during his first season when anything came into the box). I'm confident Rui will iron this out.

Last season we had everyone banging the Ruddy needs benching after Norris has a couple of steady cup games, We now have people wanting Rui benching for Ruddy?? Norris will only ever be a back up/squad player at Premier league and championship level, Ruddy would be a good first choice for a lower half Prem team (which I am sure we are aiming above) and a great back up. Rui is a world class goal keeper who has performed around the world on the biggest stage consistently for years its not even a close contest for number one. Still learning the English game, won us far more points already than he has cost us, kicking isn't his string skill set but my first concern from a goal keeper is keeping the ball out the net. As for the kicking to Doc this is clearly something that he has been told by Nuno or the coaching team or I am sure it would have been addressed by now. Always amazes me how much better plays become to fans while they are out of the team, short memories.

I thought Ruddy's distribution wasn't any better than Patricio's to be honest, when he sent it long it was usually aimless and wasn't even targeting a player most of the time, at least Patricio tries to pick out a player (usually Doherty).

I don't really rate Ruddy based on last season but he did well on Monday overall. Still wouldn't have him near the starting XI though. Yes, Patricio has some weaknesses such as command of his area but I haven't forgotten Ruddy constantly flapping at crosses last season either.

I'm actually inclined to agree. Rui's footwork is brilliant, and this allows him to be in the correct position as the shot comes in. Usually when he's been beaten from range, it's been when he's unsighted. As we tend to defend deep in numbers, this is a risk unfortunately.
