Was reading the ManU forum where they have raised an interesting topic - name your top 10 CFs. Interesting to read others views. Thought I’d share.

Who are your current top 10 PL CFs?

One of those quotes said Jimenez was great in a « small » club. Hope he shows them on Saturday @Benny78 UTW

Interesting to see that Jimenez only gets 44% of his shots on target. That's the lowest of the 25 top scorers in the Prem (the average for whom is 60%). Lukaku - who's perhaps most similar in how he plays and where he shoots from - is on 70%. Given that he often shoots from outside the box, Hazard's at an astonishing 77%. But it's not everything: Aguero's top scorer and is only on 51%.

This could be because Jimenez and Aguero may be more enterprising, or more arrogant/foolhardy, depending on how you would like to interpret it, and hence are less careful about where or when they attempt a strike, than are Lukaku etc. Hence they will miss more. But they will also score more often than if they tried less - even if all the misses lower their "on target" percentage.

And of course this statistic says nothing about what other things a striker might or might not do for the team - hold-up play, bringing others into scoring positions etc.etc. It's noteworthy that many on this forum are now excited about a growing Jimenez-Jota partnership.

I reckon Kevin Doyle used to get about 90% on target. Each one a side foot back pass to the keeper.

He could only generate power with his yed!

isn't hitting it straight at the keeper classed as on target?

Fantastic news! Thoroughly deserved and one hell of a player

Challenge now is to keep it going and even improve

Well done Raul, looking forward to the formal announcement and we can welcome you as a permanent member of the pack

Credit to the club also, we can't just shell out £30M willy nilly, and we made sure he was worth it before paying. Good club and financial management

Well said. I'm sure that many "bigger" clubs would now sign him if they could.

In over 50 years going to the Molineux, he's one of the very best I've seen. Not quite the best or most natural goalscorer but certainly the best I've seen at linking play. The (almost unmentioned) pass with the outside of his right foot, leading to the 2nd goal v. Cardiff was of the highest quality. And not forgetting his amazing work rate and bravery. In my minds eye I can see him playing alongside John Richards or Bully - now that would have been worth watching.

I honestly can't believe someone said recently they wouldn't pay £40m for him. If him and Jota can carry this partnership on next season he'll easily top 20 goals. Callum Wilson is the same age, has only scored double figures this season(his 4th) and Bournemouth want £75m for him!!!!! The guy brings so much more than just goals as well. I don't think I'd complain if we had to spend 50 or 60, so 30 is an absolute steal!!!!

His goal vs Chelsea.....he was off balance when he last passed it to Jota, spun around and kept going only to get return service from Jota for the score.

Most other players would have fallen and rolled around, all while flailing his arms all over the place yelling for the ref to call a foul.

He didn't, he kept going. Proper footballer.

My only concern is....is he playing this well because he wants to impress or will he get better after signing a contract because there is no more pressure on him which will allow him to expand even more?

    Why is that a concern?

You would have to say that he is 'naturally' playing out of his skin to be able to stay with us.

I don't think his character should be doubted, looks very much the honest sort who likes to always give his best.....it would be a fillip.

£30 million is great value. Hard working, links play beautifully and has good goal return already. If he can get 6 more before the end of the season in all comps he has had a great season.

Every signing in sport is always a gamble. If they’re young the sudden wealth can begin to distract them. Injuries can happen. And marriage and suddenly kids come along and priorities may be compromised.
But in Raul’s case, his age is a bonus, (maturity wise),and after being second fiddle for so long at Benfica, this year must be a fantastic thrill for him and he knows the fans adore him.
The work ethic he shows constantly on the pitch can’t be faked.....I believe he is Wolves through and through.
Joining Wolves for Raul must be like from darkness cometh light.

£30m + is not peanuts and he is 27. But boy has he proved himself. My only concern is after buying him will there be enough in the pot to bring in another three players needed (minimum)....another striker, central midfielder and wing back. Ideally a CB too. Four of them could easily knock us back another £75m on top of the £30m + for Jiminez. Costa might go for say , £10m if we could find a buyer and we might get £|2-3m for Hause but can't see much more coming in considering what a thin squad we have got.

Hats off to the recruitment team -

looking at raul's stats over the last few years, I wasn't exactly overwhelmed with his signing and never expected the level of performance we've seen this season

Well if we don't spend £30 million on him, then we need to find another striker on top of the list you put together. That striker would probably cost £30-40 million if they are any good.

But what about FFP? That limits what can be spent.

However Raul looks good value at 30 mill, and is probably a priority, regardless of who else might be being considered.

All our deals will be staggered over so many years. Ffp experts on here seem to think we can spend big.

Not sure if Chris is on here but this is from his thread on Twitter, if we could get this going for 10-15 minutes solid it would be class:

    Corey on Twitter

“There’s something that the Wolves want you to know.

Best in the World, he comes from Mexico.

    Our number nine.

Give him the ball and he’ll score every time.

    Si Senor.

Give the ball to Raúl he will score”
