At one time we would have been enthusiastic supporters of a second premier league division ,but now ?

Leeds United: Owner Andrea Radrizzani calls for creation of 'Premier League 2'

It could have attractions to the top six who could reduce the size of the top league to 18 clubs improving their chances in the champions league..The rest might see the second division as insurance against relegation but they would need there to be two up two down (or one up and one down and a play off).

But would mean sharing prem money more widely so that could kybosh it .

I think it's quite a good idea and I would also consider regionalising the lower divisions to save on travel costs etc. It would seem to benefit the bigger clubs such as Leeds and I must admit that I do prefer to see the traditional big clubs in the top flight rather than teams like Wigan and Bournemouth.

I can understand his argument. But this is Leeds another club that cried to the E.F.L and F.A about us last season, so like Villa they can also Mind the Gap.

I think calling it Premier League 2 would be a bit of a silly name. Premier is defined as 'first in importance, order, or position; leading'. A Premier League 2 wouldn't be premier, it would be secondary. Maybe that's just me being pedantic.

Premier League 2 already exist.. its the name of the U23 league..

18 teams? In my opinion 20 should be changed to at least 22, or even better 24. I really dislike the current setup with 3 games a month. League and club always comes first. European leagues and international crap less important.

Who are we playing Saturday? Oh, no.. another break. Cant understand people who want more breaks and less games. Where will it end? 5 home games a season?

The Leeds chairman is obviously aware that once the clocks go back, Leeds start their annual collapse in form.

At least Derby wait for New Year

We need to remember that the real objective of FIFA and UEFA is to make the club games secondary.
The FIFA world cup? **** off!!

I wouldn't mind premier league spreading their wealth a bit more with the rest of the EFL, it would only improve the standard of our countries football and even increase the standard of the premier league by increased competitiveness of the teams in the divisions below.

Not sure that this would actually do it, but it might not be the worst idea in the world to bring the bottom of the Premier League and top of the Championship closer together financially.

Maybe it would help with the amount of dross that's been in the bottom half of the PL playing crap football for years if teams weren't so petrified of the financial consequence of falling from a league where you can earn minimum £100m to a league where you probably earn maximum £30m/£35m.

As it appears we are closing the gap on the established "Big 6" perhaps our mindset becomes a little different to before and certainly a little selfish. I've thought for quite some time that i'd be happy for that Big 6 to **** off and create a European Super League and give us back a truly competitive English league. We could even call it Division 1 again.

I Love everything Fosun have brought to our Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The last 2 seasons probably the best i've ever seen (Definitely remember). But i hate what Sky, Fifa and the F.A have turned our game into, "a Corporate money making machine".

Oh how i would love it to still be like the 70s and before. Saturday 3 o'clock kick offs, Proper terraces, singing " Knees up mother Brown, ect",
Pay on the gate home and away, Sports argos on the way home.
Catch all the days goals only if you caught Match of the day that evening.

Complete non starter even if it makes financial sense for many clubs. The exclusive brand that the Premier League thrives on would be watered down.

Yep, a 34 game season hasn't helped Bayern get anywhere nearer winning the Champions League against 38 games a season Madrid, 34 games would probably mean a ticket price rise to make up for playing fewer games as well

You try and spread the money more equally between two divisions and your more likely to get the top six clubs sorting their own deals and **** the rest. Don't open up that window for them.

Agree with that. There is too much wealth concentrated in the PL. And I also think we should go back to the days when the play offs from the Championship was team in 3-5th place, along with the team 3rd from bottom of the Premier League.

I also think that the League Cup should be revitalised as a regional competition with the a min league group stage, semi-finals and final involving the Scottish clubs. The winners should then get a UEFA Cup place

Leave it as it is Leeds can earn their way to premier league in the same way every other team does. Sit down and shut up Radrizzani!

I’d be happy for more money to be shared as £8m to £100 is massive, but premiere league 2 can **** off.

    It will never happen
What could very well happen is a Super League involving European top clubs, maybe based on FIFA rankings to make up an elite 16 or so
The Championship is the second tier and will remain so,perhaps a season with more promoted clubs to fill the spaces created if the top clubs do form another league,20 clubs is quite enough in the Prem imo

The distribution of the TV revenue across the Premier League and Football League is massively unfair. Therefore, anything that addresses this surely has to be a good thing?

agreed, and making distribution fairer would be great. I don't think a premier league 2 would really solve very much . If it was effectively what is now the the bottom part of the prem and the top part of the championship, then the result would probably be the remaining prem get the best deal, prem 2 gets next best deal, so those that were in the bottom of the prem would probably get a bit less and those that were top of the champ would get more, there would probably then still be a gap between prem and prem 2 and big gap between prem 2 and the rest of the football league.

to distribute the money more fairly you just need a fair scale that goes from the top of the prem to the bottom of league 2, no need to rearrange the leagues, of course without more money going into the deal overall then a fairer distribution means taking some money away from the top clubs etc, so that makes it difficult to get agreement on as it's only going to be those who benefit who will be in favour and also that the prem and the EFL have different governing bodies then getting an agreement between them is unlikely

I'm already annoyed at only playing once a week (every two weeks with international breaks). Let's exacerbate the boredom for fans of most PL clubs by removing another 4 fixtures from the calendar, eh?

I wouldn't see it as a diluted. It would strengthen the PL brand by safeguarding membership if the bigger clubs even if it were in division 2. There's no glamour in Bournemouth v Brighton. Leeds v Villa, Derby v Wednesday are far more intriguing to the neutral. If the likes of Sheffield United and Sunderland were able to attract better players because of higher TV revenue, it would also be more of a spectacle. Albion v Forest has to be better for the PL brand than Watford v Cardiff.

The Championship is great but the fact it's a ''second division'' will always hang over it and impact its commercial ability to compete.

The Leeds owner is basically moaning about parachute payments. Instead of putting forward a whacky proposal like this, he could just campaign for the ending of parachute payments.
