Come the end of the Season, this is going to be one hell of a decision.

Unless Adama comes storming through on the blind side with 20 goals as our newly defined striker, I'm currently in a mammoth tussle between our "Captain Courageous" Conor Coady, the "sublime" Joao Moutinho, Matt "FA Cup" Doherty, and "Wanderers Number 9", Raul Jimenez.

Everytime I warm towards a particular player, another weighs in with a great performance.
Conor throwing himself in front of the ball, or sending an inch perfect pass to the Doc.
The Doc at Newcastle, Shrewsbury, Bristol, Joao at Wembey and at Bristol (to name just a couple), and Raul with his hold up play and vital goals.
There are other contenders I know, which will make the task even more difficult come May.

Pretty much agree with those mentioned in the OP.

    For me, at the moment:

    1. Jimenez
    2. Moutinho
    3. Doherty

Honourable mentions for Coady, Boly and Jonny.

Doherty easily. POTS is consistancy. I have doubted Jiminez and Moutinho more than Doc

Difficult to pull them apart but if I had to I’d go:
    1)Moutinho
    2)Doherty
    3)Coady
    4)Jimenez

I’d go Doc just because at the start everyone was saying how they weren’t sure he would make the step up, he’s proved he can. Moutinho has been amazing but you kinda expected it, he’s Joao Moutinho!

Doherty for me too. So integral to everything we create up and down that right side. Consistently good and gets better every game.
He must practice that 'chesting control of the long Coady diagonal switched ball' so many times, he could do it with his eyes closed.
So many other star performers this season but it's the Doc all the way for me.

I think Doherty is just shading it for me, but he has been probably more inconsistent than Moutinho to be fair. Cardiff, Leicester the first time and Huddersfield all off the top of my head are games where Doc was absolutely shocking. He's hit higher heights than Moutinho I think but Moutinho has been pretty consistent all season. Rarely steals the headlines but always puts in a 7/10 performance at the least.

Docherty or Jimenez for me in terms of consistency. Moutinho has been absolutely outstanding - particularly in the last month or so and the arrival of the new formation, but was poor for a while during our run of defeats.

Raul. Toughest job on the pitch to score but his link up play is incredible too. We are lost without him. We could survive without the others.

1st Mouthino, not only a class act on the field, but 6 year old daughter just met him in Mander Centre and she was awestruck. He made her feel like he wanted pic with her, and made her feel like a celebrity. Top player/superb man.

After last season, I bet nobody thought we’d have a player capable of matching Neves!

    1) Moutinho
    2) Doherty
    3) Coady

Over the season i've warmed to so many, Jonny early on, then Moutinho and Raul, now Doc. Right now i'd say Doc.

Doherty without a shadow of doubt. Yes there are a few contenders but Doherty has been consistent so far through season and the outlet he offers i think most of the top 6 teams would be jealous of or wish for.

I think fullback is the easiest position to look 'consistent' in... Foley, Irwin, McNamara.

I always try to consider how much better than their expected levels of performance players are.

For me, Moutinho has been pure class this season, but that was to be expected.

I expected that Coady would be step up to be solid in The Premier League and he has, solid but not spectacular (although given his position, it's hard to be spectacular).

Despite a slow start, Jota is beginning to show the class expected of him.

But the two players that stand head and shoulders above the rest with regards to exceeding their expected performances, have been Jimenez and Doherty.

And Doherty just edges it for me due to his volume of goals and assists (but it's very close!).

    Jiminez
    Coady
    Jota

Who, at the start of the season, really expected that the player of the season list wouldn't include Neves?

Shows how good our first team is, even if the squad as a whole lacks a little depth.

Doc, because of his consistency, and just how well he has stepped up. As terrific as Moutinho (2nd) and Raul (3rd) are, they've also gone through poor spells. Moutinho has only been able to consistently produce his best with the introduction of a third midfielder.
