Or could simply be that he is an ugly, ginger leprechaun. Poster boy he ain't.
Saw this title and thought he had come out off retirement yet again and re-signed for mancs
still hate him!
Scholes would know enough people in football to know his reputation seeing as he has a history of sticking his nose in. Cant say i have much sympathy for him.
It was the pull of his home town club who he supported as a kid I suppose .
If i wanted a midfielder, i'd be having Roy Keane over Scholes or Gascoigne tbh. For as much as he is a loose cannon, he was ultra competitive, ultra consistent, a born leader capable of dragging teams through poor performances. Alongside Cantona probably the most influential footballer i have seen. I'd say he was a more complete midfielder than anyone of his era.
Wasn't just the owner apparently, rumours of a member of staff leaking things out to the owner of team news, tactics etc. which then Scholes would have to justify/explain. I think he could handle the owner, but being undermined from within, time to walk
Closest to Gazza these days is Hazard
Closest to Scholes? Maybe De Bruyne ?
Agree Keane was hugely influential - when it came to ball at feet, I'd say he was far from special
Quite like Tom Cairney.
Even shorter (probably, lol) if you exclude those who played for Wolves
Booze (and allegedly other) addictions didn't help Gazza any... There's a reason he looks about 20 years older than he actually is...
Not to mention that Scholes may have felt that his reputation/status in the game would fend off some know-nknow-nothing meddler...

A bloke I know met Tom Cairney last summer on holiday. He played football with his son, said he was a nice chap!
Did he describe his goal in the play-off final?
What time you about tomorrow?
I never asked him
When you starting?
Arriving 2:30 but need to drop my bag off at Redwings at some point.
The old Travelodge by the Baths on Waterloo Road., original plan was to drop off bag and head back to Bohs.
I’ll meet you in there bout 3 mate
Sounds good, maybe a little later being an old *******!
Best foot forward mate!
He wasn't poor though.
Yes - a great player.
But this is England. Followed by millions of kids.
Your national duty .
A country that made you multimillionaire for playing the national sport.
And you are grumpy with the media and wont play on left wing !
But all the time you will play for Man Utd and for Ferguson.
Thats OK ?
Not for me.
Give me the men of Wolves who will play with good grace wherever Nuno asks .
Nuno isn’t stupid enough to ask a world class player to play so grossly out of position.
I do see your point but Scholes got nearly 70 caps and was almost 30 when he retired from England.
He’s never said he retired due to where he was being played, he just said he didn’t enjoy being away from his young kids for a length of time, particularly during tournaments and felt it was right for him to stop when he did.
As for not wanting to talk to the media, good. I wish more players wouldn’t trot out the cliched, boring crap they come out with.
