Some valid comments about our team unit as well today, echoed by the others. Thommo also saying we're being methodical in how we are going about trying to break the top 6 and that we're not another 'Hull Tigers' affair. Only slightly annoying comment from Thommo was not recognising out change in formation was how we countered those sides that parked the bus i.e. Huddersfield, not just keeping with the same 343. Also still an underlying assumption that big 6 sides can just come and cherry pick our players whenever they want

Plenty of praise and reasonably intuitive, feeling a bit bad about calling Merson a simpleton yesterday now. See what tomorrow brings

40 million isn't really enough for a promoted team and they still finished 10th. Basically he gets to spend money on low wage players every now and then once their fans kick off. No structure or structure for improvement. 12 million the most he's spent on one player?

Yet again he got it completely wrong, predicting a1-1 draw.

Rafa Benitez is tactically very good, he goes under the radar, but tactically he is probably the best in the Premier League. He gets results against Man City, so they will be hard to beat.

Wolves, though, struggle against teams that do not come out against them and they get frustrated - they lost at home at a canter to the bottom club, Huddersfield, so this could be a difficult game for them.

Benitez will have seen that and will not open up against them - if this turned into a 'you have a shot, we have a shot' match, I would dread to think what the score would be. They will be five at the back, will not move and they will wait for a set play from Matt Ritchie, who is good at them, a little bit of guile, and I could see them getting something from this game.

    MERSE PREDICTS: 1-1

    Sounds pretty accurate to me.

For his and his family's sake I hope Sky assist him to turn things around. If they kick him out he could be facing a desperate future.
But I'm also thinking of all those people who fall for booze, gambling etc and try to get some inspiration from those who kick the habits - seeing one of them them fall again can hardly help them in their less public battles.

    Agreed.
One great regret I have is not being able to talk a friend of mine out of alcohol abuse and he died still in his forties while owning a farm worth £2/3million. He had all to live for but ..... the booze won. I hope the likes of Adams and anyone else who can help him do so before alcohol finishes him.

I thought so from the OP but the headlines in a paper I am looking at right now reads : 'My New Booze Battle' and state he has 'addiction issues' and he is back with Alcoholics Anonymous.
However, whatever the addiction, he needs all the genuine friends he can get.

It must be really difficult nowadays for any gambling addict to stop, when its advertised everywhere, at half time in matches, shirt sponsors etc.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but I'd say years ago if you could keep a gambling addict out of the bookies then maybe that was half the battle won, but now you've only got to pick up your phone and its there in front of you with betting and gambling websites and apps, I can't imagine how you'd begin to tackle it.

like many stories, the whole truth doesn’t come out, there’s often more than what reported going on.
Often deals are done to report in exchange for exclusivity, that only elements of the story is discussed.

I can't imagine working for a company that constantly pushes gambling helps him at all. And lets be honest, having seen his "predictions" for Premier League games, he's probably lost a fair bit of money if he's backed any of them.

The way gambling websites grab your phone and make it nearly impossible to go back or x out should be illegal.
A few times I've clicked by mistake and it's horrible to get away.

Paul Mersons's twitter today - Thank you for the supportive tweets, means the world to me. Taking one day at a time but it's getting better for me. Addiction is the most lonely of places and I've had three of the worst types over three decades. Never be afraid to talk, you're never alone

I rarely gamble and what bit I do usually concerns Wolves, however, on the odd occasion (Grand National etc) when I do have a flutter it invariably happens when I'm in my cups! Perhaps it's in the genes - a great-grandfather went bankrupt solely due to booze and gambling, the more booze he quaffed the dafter his gambling (horses) got. I reckon the two go together for a lot of people.

Very much so. Casinos aren’t supposed to let you in if you are visibly drunk, reduced inhibitions/questionable capacity and all that.
Never seen a bookies without a number of resident soaks though, and certainly no restrictions on drunken online gambling.

Then one or the other exacerbates the other in a guilt spiral.

I had enough problems with gambling as a young un, quite glad I didn’t have a problem with drink as well.
I was stupid on a clear head.

TBF to Merson he has a point we wasn't very adventurous and Chelsea are vulnerable we did pay them too much respect IMO. On the flip side though Chelsea were negative themselves they did not look like scoring for most of the game ans should of took the game to us with them being the home team.

Watching GSS and I can not understand a word what Clinton Morrison is saying thank god for subtitles
