He has been by no means perfect, and yes a handful of results and performances have been shocking - but one or two posters on here in particular wanted him to fail from day one. They did not want him and will not allow him the opportunity to even begin to build something. Now we have had one bad run, that is just it for them, he must go in their minds. Irrational doesnt even do it justice, some of the comments and "observations" it is pathetic. I have never known a Manager/Head Coach actually waited on to do wrong by some. Whether it is team selection, tactics, interviews, new signings (all 2 of them!)... frankly it is pathetic imo.

Out of interest, at what point did you turn on Saunders? I could have the wrong poster here, but I'm pretty sure it was you who gave him the nickname Doddsy from Mike Bassett pretty much from day one? You've never known a manager who was 'waited on to do wrong' - try Doddsy.

Yes it was me, and I take your point. Does that make me a bit of a hypocrite then? Perhaps it does. Having said that, you cannot tell me his reign and Lamberts is by any means comparable.

Until the last week, based on points achieved highly comparable, with a far better squad in my opinion, not to mention the signings he was allowed in January denied to Saunders.

Just for information (not sure why Ipswich got highlighted). We haven't sustained top 6 form all season, in this division anyone can look good on their day, week in week out grinding it out is what matters. I'd back him but there is a lot to do if we want to be anywhere near next season.

Iv not been impressed with A lot of Lamberts work so far but let's be fair, the 2 players he's bought have done pretty well.
I'd also say that if his job was to make the top 6 he was on a hiding to nothing anyway. If I remember right we were only a couple of points off the bottom 3 when he took over in late October. There really aren't many teams who recover from that to make the top 6.
My gut feeling is he won't be here next season anyway.

Well I remain to be convinced. Three good wins but we need much more than that. We all hope that with Fosun backing we can challenge for promotion next season.

While it's good to go on a little run that may ensure our safety, it is all more important to clean up the problems that are holding this club back. Like: sub-standard coaching making decent players degrade in their time here, injuries taking seemingly too long to heal, persisting with mediocre players who failed to show that they anything more that mid-table Championship players at their best.

I'm not sure that Lambert is the right person to do so. Maybe it's just a feeling but Lambert looks like he thinks everything is fine at the club and we have just been unlucky in a number of games. Which in my opinion is not true.

At the moment we are flying on the wings of two very good footballers that when playing together are far too good for Championship defences - Costa and Cavaleiro. I don't think the game plan has changed though.

Saunders was a clown, with no track record, who has done nothing since he left Wolves.

If Lambert goes in the summer you can guarantee he'll be back in management by Christmas.

Their styles are completely different especially their interviews Lambert has been completely honest - see his post Wigan comments.

Every possibility but when he says things whereby he contradicts himself he makes himself not just look and sound foolish but also that he doesn't have a clue and is not sure. Hardly traits required of a manager whom the owners are to put trust in.

Well said. Whilst pleasing that results and recent performances have shown signs of improvement it's only looking good right now because most of the season has been so damn poor. Whilst some will highlight it's 3 wins out of the last 4 games and all 4 undefeated it can also be argued it's only 3 wins in the last 9 games with 5 successive defeats.

Sometimes the old saying of the less said the better springs to mind but if comment is necessary then at least say what makes sense and not shoot yourself in the foot.

As I've said earlier keep reading rumours the club are looking at other managers and I sincerely hope they are.

    This.

All down to opinion I guess, not been impressed by many of his after game interviews, clearly Saunders was a clown but until last week Lambert's record was no better, still has it all to prove for me.

We are all second guessing what Fosun will do. That's us the fans and the media.

Changes may be coming and they have made a decision regardless of how we finish the season. This could be Lambert it, it could be behind the scenes.

We finish strongly, Lambert may have their full support, may even have it and planning for next season.

There's so many opinions and theories going round, we will only know come the close season.

He ain't good enough full stop, he tinkers too much and wrote off the new players at the start and now they have come good is taking all the credit, Mr Cool crap, he was ****ting himself just over a week ago and would have been gone now had we had another loss.

He will probably keep us up, WoW!!! lets keep him, we should not have been in this position to start with!!!

I still want him Thelwell and the backroom staff all replaced at the end of the season and start again,. this time with a blank page with none of the old regime.

Lets make sure next season we have a real shot at automatic promotion.

Thing is Fulham had a similar season last year and only finished 21st. They stuck with their manager and gave him the summer to build his squad. Plenty of Fulham fans wanted him gone. Everyone is now stating they play the best football in the league and tipping them for the play offs. There was even a rumour we were after him.

Chris Houghton has been in a similar position with Brighton and they are building a squad to challenge. It doesn't happen over night and we can't chop and change manager every time we hit a bad patch.

Good points NW but deep down do you think or believe that FOSUN have been happy, impressed and pleased with how things have gone under Lambert? I'd imagine they are feeling a lot more positive today than this time two weeks ago but can't imagine the season has worked out anywhere near what they had hoped and wanted. As such I reckon Lambert's future is 50/50 right now at best.

Brighton, and to a lesser extent Sheff Wed, are good examples of how long it can take to build a good side/squad under one manager. I would like PL to be given next season to show if he is good enough.
One of the main criticisms of him seems to be his failure to bring in a striker in January but if the player he wanted wasn't available, but might be available in the summer, I would be glad that he waited.
The other criticism is of him always saying when interviewed that we have played well when many of us can see that we weren't particularly good. This could simply be trying to build/maintain the confidence of some fairly young players.

I feel quite relaxed if he stays then great, if we get someone better then great, the biggest concern is if we get someone worse, which is of course feasible.

Personally I think they will have learnt a lot, more than they imagined. I don't believe they are happy with the season as a whole. But they must take some of the blame, something I think they may have accepted.

Zenga was their choice and it failed, would appear to be more off field issues that ended his time here.

The recruitment wasn't planned, again I put this on them. Understandably we needed players but that many coming in in such a short space of time was always going to be difficult to get them to gel. They had no pre season together, something which didn't help them or Zenga.

I would imagine they are relatively happy with the business side of the club, and with what LD is trying to implement in ticket prices and getting fans through the doors. As for their other managerial promotion, Thelwell has a lot to prove. Without knowing the ins and outs of the January transfer, we have no idea if we he did what they wanted.

With regards to Lambert, if he was Thelwells appointment and he was instructed to get us into the play offs than no they won't be happy. But the question is, did they know the play offs were out of reach after the summer recruitment and Zengas brief spell in charge? They may have already believed that it was a step too far. If they are trigger happy then surely they would have got rid of Lambert when we were in our bad run? Maybe they have learnt they need a plan B?

    But it's all speculation.

All I want is a very good manager for next season. So I try to judge all our managers as they go along. Looking at the way we play, the comments made after a loss and a win are important to see if they understand what is working or not.
If I think it is just feeding ******** to the local paper , that also tells me something about the manager. And I certainly never listen to any of the players press statements.

To me Paul Lambert looked good on paper and he spoke well on arrival. He had the credentials

But recently I read a number of comments he made at Blackburn and they were almost carbon copies of what he said to us. That looks insincere.
He then obviously overhyped our poor performances and did not engage with the fans .

We went on a losing run and he seemed powerless to come up with a verbal or physical answer.

So my verdict is out but I need some persuading that he has the character to idenditify and stop a losing run , if it a happens again.

It looks for now that he has got on to a good run of confidence . But management is more than going on runs . Its about controlling those runs.

Going to put it out there, I still think he is a clown and completely the wrong person to take forward a club who apparently has ambitions of dining at the top table of English football.

In Cav and Costa he has 2 of the best players to ever play at this level and they have managed to save his bacon. Nothing more nothing less.

I would love to be proved completely and utterly wrong but I think we should be aiming higher. An awful lot higher.

Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere, but a mate of mine mentioned an article in the sun yesterday that stated FOSUN want a big name in charge next season. 2 man shortlist of Paulo Sousa (who's just been linked with Juventus) and Oscar Garcia, ex Brighton coach now at Red Bull Salzberg. Sounds like rubbish obviously, but it could well be an interesting summer? Friend of mine also told me that the rumour over at arsenal is that they have been very impressed with costa and might well be willing to spend big.

Just need a couple of wins to keep ourselves safe. Wouldn't be terribly sad or surprised to see Lambert go tbh.

A classic example of making the facts fit the agenda, thus: when results are poor, it's Lambert's fault; when results are good, it's the players who are responsible.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we had a mini revival under Saunders and won three on the bounce. Lambert hasn't achieved safety yet, lets see what he can do with all these home games coming up when the onus is on us to attack. Not convinced he is the man to take us forward.

One of the reasons that the club hasn't progressed is the constant changing of managers & playing styles. what they need to do is settle on one way of playing & introduce that to all levels at the club (bringing in/developing the players that can play that style of football - not square pegs for round holes which is what we have at present). IF either of those 2 came to the club, we'd need a dramatic change in personnel & attitudes & time to implement the required infrastructure. Have Fosun got the time or the ability within the constraints of FPP?

In fairness to Lambert (and even more so Zenga) the sheer volume of late summer signings was a total cluster....
In hindsight, it was always going to take time to work through.
Lambert to me seems like the right man for the job. He deserves at least 15 games next season to get us looking like a top six side. If he can't do it, that's a different story.

Lambert was going to be sacked if they lost against Rothers, that is according to you pant wetters on here.
I seem to remember another scotsman was about to be sacked a few decades ago when his club were loosing games.until he got a win and turned his life around and won quite a few over many years with the same club.S.A.F. is the top manager in my lifetime.
Lambert needs time with at least 3 transfer windows.
All this chopping and changing with management has not worked for us over many years,it is about bloody time we gave a manager some time
and allow him some space to get this right.

    Exactly!!

If we are going to get out of this league and to start playing with the big boys we need a RADICAL overhaul.

Those that think we do not need a radical one please see last year.the year before, the year before , the year before etc

I am not saying chop and change so not a comment on that point you made in general, but the only thing S.A.F. and Lambert have in common is that they are both Scottish.

Sorry, but trying to make out that Lambert is / might be the next S.A.F. because he is Scottish and was also rumoured to be one match away from the sack is not an argument to keep him.

Agreed. Hopefully this season will have taught FOSUN a great deal and that they take heed and are better prepared for the season to come. It would be madness to think they are happy but as you say they are partly to blame. If they have learnt lessons then lets all hope they are not repeated. As for Zenga, well one of those issues we will never know the answer to NW. Had he stayed he may have turned things round but then again he could have taken us down. My own view is that Lambert hasn't really improved things and I believe things got worse under his management but the last 4 games have made things look far better, sort of papered over the cracks.

The recruitment side of things seems a bit of a farce and again agreed that it didn't help Zenga at all. And Lambert actually had the time to assess things that Zenga did not.

The bussiness side of things as regards supporters is damn good all things considered. When you take into account the season the club has had so far and how Wolves have been hovering about the relegation area for so long the very fact Wolves are still averaging over 22k is impressive. Sure FOSUN know this and will therefore understand the potential. Wolves sitting top of the tree or thereabouts would see that average a lot higher which again I'm sure FOSUN know full well. Re Thelwell, I have often asked exactly what his remit is, what he does and what he achieves. Whatever it is I'm far from impressed and even if Lambert stays I really think changes are needed in the ranks behind/below Lambert.

Lambert himself as far as I'm concerned has let the club and himself down and IMV been a massive failure. The last 4 games have obviously seen vast improvements regards points gained and the last 2 games the team performance has been very good so no arguments thinks are looking better. But it seems following these improvements very convienient Lambert is now basking in it as if there never was any problems but his failings should not, again IMV, be ignored. Under his management and some awful football the man has taken Wolves to the brink of the relegation zone and even now they are far from safe although looking a tad more comfotable than a couple of weeks back.

SAF is always brought up. He was an exception to the rule. He took on Man Utd 31 years ago !

Since then many clubs have had many many managers .
