Considering our primary target appeared to be a Championship striker, I'd say you're very wrong.
Dog**** but has a similar goalscoring record at Liverpool as Jimenez had at Benfica, but is 5 years younger and at a higher level.
I wonder if some people are judging him after 1 game that they recently saw.
Not a massive fan, but he did look good when he burst onto the Liverpool scene, theres more to come from him no doubt in my mind about that, he'd improve our options.
Yet has been as useful as a carthorse in the previous three years and hardly kicked on his career since his early promise when he looked fantastic, sure there is talent, but he’s regressed so much that at any price he would be a loss in value, has the confidence of a dog afraid of its own shadow.
And if we are doing goal scoring records @Okresh , let’s sign Jordan Rhodes up.
I'm in the like him camp. Think he's got loads of potential and reason why people think he played poor against us in the cup was more down to the players around him. He was the only player do try and create anything in the final 3rd even outside the goal, had no support and even worked hard back at times to.
Can play as our striker in a 343 outwide in a 343 and either the main or secondary striker in a 3412
Origi is not dog ****. Find it incredible when a player is slated. He is so dog **** that he has been a regular on Liverpools bench this season and is a Belgian International and has scored over ten goals at this level a couple of seasons back. I would be really pleased if we signed him. He needs a new club and fresh start and has ability.
Ah yes, those two appearances he’s made, an absolute regular.
He’s not scored 10, he scored 5 in 17 when he burst through and then over a full season he got 7 in 34 before being shipped out on loan where he was described happily as ‘average’ in mid table sides of Lille and Wolfsburg.
Does he have the work ethic required for us? No
Has he got a record of banging them in to compensate for this? No
So for us, yeah, I think he would be a dog**** player and a pointless signing that improves nothing.
And a new start and club? He’s been away from Liverpool for two seasons and neither of those clubs were desperate to bring him back.
According to whoscored, Origi has scored 37 goals in 9078 minutes of football, if I've worked it out right, that equates to 37 goals in about an hundred games worth of football, not a bad record at all, in the same period he's also got eleven assists. He just needs a run of games somewhere, and he could become a very good forward for someone.
According to the Liverpool Echo (which may be as bad as the Evening Mail) he's not for sale in this window anyway!
This thread amuses me. I remember Rauls being similar in August, and as a main option he didn't turn out too bad did he?
I've always thought Origi has a lot of potential so if we get him then Nuno must feel the same.
Played against us twice and scored twice.
Those were loan spells. He needs a permanent move.
Here he might feel more up for it with Doncks - they are they same age and will likely have come through together.
Need to believe under our coaching and Nuno, along with the squad mentality as is, we can hope to reprogramme his mentality/thinking if it needs it.
Have a look at the forward lineups of Watford, Bournemouth, west ham, Everton, Leicester.
Would origi make an Impact at any of those teams?
For me it's a resounding no, and they're the teams we are competing with.
I like him too, just summat about him that I car quite put me finger on.But I'm sure Nuno would get the best out of him if he was to come.Nuno has stated today that he is not always after players that can play in a 3 4 3 or a 3 5 2.And that's why he bought Trarore.Players with potential he will improve in my humblest of opinions.
Its also important we add something different, for me its about introducing players who can see the pass, make the pass and link effectively with others. Team players.
Klopp reported as saying that he is not for sale.
So difficult to sign goalscoring strikers at the moment as there is such a dearth of quality ones.
I'm struggling to think of other alternatives in this country who are actually going to improve us. Proably need to look abroad again.
We will get who we get, used to really worry if we were ever good enough, already on 29 points no chance of relegation. enjoy the ride.
Ah he's......... um he........ remember when he........ **** knows m8.
We ain’t gonna get 20 goal man lads especially if we’re spending big on Jiminez
Realistically Abraham and origi would be the BEST we’d get for competition
Some you need get a LOT more realistic with your expectations
Will have to go abroad to get players for certain unless we look at up and coming players such as Maupay at Brentford.
I don't want to say the B word, Josh, but...
We signed a wonderkid whilst in the championship from a champions League team and have owners that want to compete at the very top level within the next 5 years. I'd say at this point, whilst sitting in the top half of the Premier League it's not unrealistic to expect better than Origi.
Totally agree. Abroad there will be players.
Well, yes and no.
Remember, Neves, Boly and Jota were hardly getting a game at all.
They had the promise of being first names on the sheet.
Origi wouldn’t get that kind assurance would he?
Put yourself in his shoes.
Do I stay at Liverpool and be a fringe player?
Go to Wolves to be a squad player?
Or go to a lower mid-table prem side, or non-giant of European leagues that might be dying for a striker?
Could argue all those choices are much of a muchness.
If I were him and Crystal Palace came knocking, I’d be there like a shot if game time was the priority.
Under the radar: Nine centre-forwards and the Premier League clubs that should sign them in January
Did they really get promised to be picked first? I seem to recall Boly and Jota having a fair spell on the bench to start with, along with Cav who rarely started, remember "the foreigners have had their chance" comment?
They obviously backed their talent to get them starts eventually ,and become first team fixtures ,which they have, but i doubt we promised them guaranteed starts at any time
Origi like Abraham, have to make a decision,do they back themselves to force a start ,or remain on loan, or bit part bench warmers at their home clubs?
In the end its always down to the players, and their ambition,we can only go so far
We should be looking at Haller, Sala and Diagne.
Neves was a talent yes, he wasn’t a Porto wonderkid he wasn’t in their side. Jota was actually the more impressive signing.
We’ve tried to sign Abraham on loan that is a view at present we’re not prepared to spend big major money! That money is being spent on Jiminez. We’re not going to spend 35m on Jiminez for him to sit on the bench or sign another 30m for them to sit on the bench.
Just common sense that if we’re gearing towards Jiminez we’re not going full board on another striker
ou're being a right Divock!
I don't think we can gamble on not getting another striker in , we will burn Jiminez out and it gets injured will leave us in the mire especially with Bonatini going on loan.
He picked up an injury and lost his place to an in form Danilo Perira but was still billed by Porto fans as the future of their DM.
Anyway, back to the point. I agree it's quite obvious we aren't going full pelt to try and find a world class striker but Origi is ****e and id like to think we would look a little further for a back up striker. I'd rather we put a kid from the academy in the mix.
Well I’d take Origi. Particularly at £15m. Seems like a punt worth taking.
I think we’re looking more in loan market and making Jiminez perm this window
Origi not mobile enough for what we need
You can pick up some good points we8 but no way was Jota the impressive signing, Neves was Porto’s youngest captain, look back at the 2 threads, Neves signing is the most high profile of this club since Andy Gray
Yeah I think, and hope so.
Crazy thing is that on our squad list of players we only had 19 players from a possible 25 man squad, this does not include under 21s as they don't have to be named, now seeing as Hause has gone out that brings it to 18, if Bona goes that's 17, take out the 3 loan players of Jonny, Raul and Donk and that's 14 registered proffesionals that the club own, plenty of room for players to come without the need to get rid, so with players going out like Hause I'd say players are definitely already on there way, it's just a matter of time, also no way will we go into the next transfer window with only 14 players, if that makes sense lol
Separate names with a comma.
