Just love these, apologies if already posted.
@Scott in the Sand !!!!
Nuno’s face, is that a
Wow what a goal
Wow keeper should have saved that
Watch Vinagre after he plays the return pass to Neves.. he doesn't move.. no point, he knows what's going to happen and just stands there and watches.
Love it. Especially liked seeing the reactions of Nuno and the coaching staff. The togetherness of all of the staff and players is fantastic and goes a long way to explaining our success.
Dendoncker moved the ball well there a couple of times.
As for Neves.
There are no words
I noticed the Dendoncker work, also. There was some very good football in the build-up.
Also interesting to note where he is when it goes on...furthest player forward and waiting for the keeper to spill it.
Really think he can be some player for us second half of the season.
I thought that.
Considering he's viewed as a DCM or CB, he was actually moving in to the box as the ball went wide which would give us another target if Vinagre had gone towards the byline and got a cross in.
He was also the furthest forward behind Jota and Jimenez for Jimenez goal as we broke.
He doesn't initially appear as the box to box type player however when you watch him play he actually seems to be quite good at it.
Some clown at my lad's football was saying the keeper should have saved it, having seen the video, from some angles it looks like he should, but from the ones inside/behind the goal, the keeper had no chance.
Send him the video of the seven Neves long-range goals last season and ask him if they were all keeper error... Prat...
Said this on the other threads, as have a few others.
Bits I saw of him at Anderlecht as well imply he’s probably our most mobile CM.
Breaking up play, knocking it short or pinging out wide...but then driving forward, wanting it back higher up the pitch.
Not something we really have elsewhere. Moutinho kind of does this, but rather slowly, and certainly wouldn’t be an aerial presence if someone whipped one in.
Maybe it really was what was implied all along.
Nuno does fancy him as a player, but not up to Prem league fitness standards at start of season.
He might have played for Belgium, but let’s be honest, it was training game pace.
He told Doc straight he thought he was fat, he sorted it, now he’s the Irish Cafu.
Let’s hope Donck goes the same way.
The Norwegian TV commentator said the same. But then again he sounded like a Liverpool supporter all game.
Probably should have done...if Milner wasn’t blocking his view.
Neves has opened his body up, could put it either side, and by the time it’s gone past Milner, Mignolet sees it hurtling towards his near bottom corner.
There really is no chance. Even though it's a low trajectory shot it dips quite viciously once it hits the 6 yard line.
Bit like Jimenez's vs Chelsea. Everyone blamed their keeper but it dipped just before it reached Kepa which meant he had no time at all to adjust.
And they’re both unsighted?
It’s neither bang in the corner, or right under him. So yeah the bounce is awkward, but if he sees it earlier, it doesn’t bounce too high for a fairly natural dive in that direction to reach it.
Given a bit more time and maybe a step.
I think he’s standing in the right place to be fair to him, before the shot.
No way he can tell which way Neves will hit it from his body shape and Milner in the way.
Yup, looks very composed. I noticed him getting involved in the celebrations to. He was the last man still applauding the Southbank at the end of the game as well.
Hardly looked like a player who was looking for a move away due to lack of game time. Games like that galvanize the squad and make players like Dendonker feel very much a part of the team. He must be buzzing to try and force himself into the starting lineup now. Good times
I think if the keeper were to have saved it, it would have been a top, top class save.
Great hit by Neves but it was also a lovely switch of play out to vinagre and good movement to follow it up to find the space for the shot. Lovely goal.
I read some statistics, I think that it was 74 mph and 0.94 seconds boot to goal. Would take a fantastic save considering it was just inside the post.
