Whoever counted that crowd needs the sack.

    Nowhere near 23k.

Being honest I was disappointed with the crowd last night. Had things gone all Wolves way they could have sat top of the table but seems that didn't interest some.

Must admit, even though it was a midweek game, I was expecting 25k plus for this. Not only are we well placed in the league but the football is so entertaining compared to the dross we have witnessed over the past couple of seasons.
I'm not quite sure what the club has to do to get more bodies through the turnstiles but 23k must be disappointing given the investment that's been put in and the new 'feel-good factor' around the club.

£26.50 for the ticket alone means that many many people are simply priced out of it. Until they make it affordable for Championship football especially for mid week games against less fashionable opposition clubs there are always going to be empty seats at this time of the season.

23,045 turned up, and according to Tim Spiers, our best midweek crowd for two years.

Would say 3 to 5k up, on a similar Tuesday night fixture from the last few Champ seasons under Morgan/Moxey.

The crowds will come. Apparently last night was a bigger attendance than we had for any mid week game last season.

For our home games, so far we have had 27000, 25500, 23000, and last night 22300 "home" fans.

Never gonna get 25000 last night with only 700 away fans.

We won't go much below 23000 all season in the league, away support has generally been poor too except Boro.

Each game our attendances have dropped. Though we still have all the most attractive games to come.

Know what you're saying mate but with the team now available and playing as they are and the fact Wolves could have gone top I was hoping to see the 25K barrier passed.

    Interesting.

Suppose when you take into account the only side so far to bring a good away following is Boro then with better followings to come gates will improve.

My comment was a bit tongue in cheek. So far our attendances have been good, and hopefully will increase if we can stay in the top six.

But you are also correct Frank. Just look at the terrible away followings brought by Cardiff, Millwall and Bristol City. None have helped to boost the gate and there will be plenty of sides whose away support will.

But yes the attendances are better for sure. Concern is how will they be should Wolves have a bad spell?

It would have been 25k plus if it hadn't had been tinpot support from Brizzle

Some folk have said previously that we need a 40,000 stadium Essex. Personally, I can only see this type of crowd if our admission prices are similar to the Bundesliga.
We can use all the excuses under the Sun (holidays, no striker, weather, poor away attendance, Christmas around the corner etc), but unfortunately the local area isn't flush with cash and folk just don't have that disposable income especially if you're trying to fund two games a week.

Think you are right and maybe I'm being a tad harsh by moaning about the crowd size. Think after such a good start I was hoping to see a bigger crowd but when everything is weighed up and taken into account it's not so bad. And I was really disappointed by the away following. It really isn't a difficult journey on main roads.

The pricing doesn't help I'm sure but I also wonder at times if the cost is a bit of a get out clause for some. Not having a dig at anyone here but some people I know have used this excuse as a reason not to attend a game yet they smoke over a pack of cigs a day. Each to their own which I accept but if you really wanted to support your team a small sacrifice now and then is worth it, isn't it? Likely I'm biased as I do all I can to make a game. Yesterday i was not sure whether I could go until mid afternoon almost but once it was confirmed I could go nothing was going to stop me. That said I accept some genuinely can't make it.

Did you make the game mate, if so you missed out on a pint with Mersea and Dukinfield?

Ever tried to get up the M5 during a weekday rush hour Essex, it's absolutely crazy, especially with the current crop of road works going on.
I think Bristol City would have brought more if we'd had a Saturday 3pm kick off, they're currently averaging around 19k at home.

Yes mate. It was very 50/50 at best as to whether I could make it or not and by the time we left and got into the big city we had enough time for two quick beers in the town. Did try and get hold or Mersea but unfortunately missed each other. I intend to speak with him so as we can try and plan ahead a bit better to see what games are available for as many of us to attend as possible.

Sadly mate I know all to well about M roads seeing as much of our journey is along the M11 and then M6. Between the two it's the A14 which is a lovely road other than only being dual carraigeway which in the week is not good much past 4pm. Obviously don't use the M5 much at all.

Just counting league games only then the current average is 26057 which is well ahead of last seasons average of 21570. With some local derbies to come as well as clubs who will be bettered followed all being well than any of the last 3 clubs to visit Molineux that average of 24K could be higher still hopefully.

You're no doubt right Essex that maybe people could rethink their budgeting to free up cash for games. For me though that isn't the angle from which we ought to be approaching the problem - the fact is they do choose to blow cash on other more immediately gratifying habits (fagging it, pop, etc). I'm myself guilty of being a bit out of the habit these days. How can we get these folk back, accepting that they might choose Benson & Hedges over Baath & Helder? The answer for me is a very simple one - consistently affordable tickets, not the season ticket pyramid scheme or one-off BOGOF-type offers. After all, this isn't a moral question (not accusing you of moralising) about how people choose to spend their hard earned, but a pragmatic one: how best to get bums on or near seats.

Of course, there are also those who simply can't afford to go at the moment...

Remember there was an offer on for last night, which was a half price ticket if you attended the Millwall game, so cost not much of an excuse, i expected 25k..

If we continue playing the entertaining football we did last night then the crowds will increase. If not, so what I'll just enjoy it?

26,000 down the Villa last night.

Shocked by that but then again my Villa colleagues hate going to games now.

Yes, a Saturday fixture would've undoubtedly attracted a bigger away attendance. We brought 1500 to Molineux on Boxing Day last season without any trains operating, not amazing but not embarrassing either. Despite what some of your fellow fans think our away support is ok and we average over a 1000 every season despite having no real local derbies. Even our closest away fixture (Cardiff) is subject to ridiculous 'bubble' restrictions.

As has been mentioned several times, 2 away games in a few days meant that many fans had to choose one or the other...clearly Reading on Saturday was the more popular choice.

Once again, good luck for the rest of the season, I think you'll do well.

I think people imagine that all fans live locally. I live 200 miles away and so far havent missed a match but my brother, his wife, my mates in london etc have all been to one or two. Its not the quality of football or the price that prevents them coming its the travel. The biggest cost for me by far is time.

"tinpot support" as if we'd bring 2,500+ in midweek, you only managed 900 to us in midweek a couple of seasons ago let's not forget that.

    23k is not bad

We're never going to jump from 18-20k for midweek games to 26-7, change will always be incremental

But I know some doubters who went Tues and loved it, so more people will relent. Don't disappoint us wolves!
