This transfer saga has echoes of Neves...

I'm sure a similar 'touting process' took place long before the final hour swoop by wolves to sign Neves and bail Porto out of a FFP ****storm...

Valencia have a similar FFP deadline to meet... Mendes is doing the rounds knowing Wolves are the stalking horse ready to step in if no other club can match or better the offer...

I think he'll be a wolves player come July 1st...

Quite a few reports on Twitter within last 30mins that Valencia have turned down a 2nd offer from Juve for Cancelo although not seen anything solid.

Juventus first bid was 5m euros with a 35m obligation to buy. Second bid was 15m euros + Pjaca, rejected yesterday. But apparently Valencia's CEO and Sporting Director are in Italy today to try to find a deal, so we may know if they reach agreement very soon. Clearly Valencia want 40 million euros upfront to address their FFP problems, and they'll be telling Juve that Wolves will pay that amount so there's no point trying to bargain for less. So if Juve turn around today and say no we won't pay it, I think it swings it in our favour completely. That being said, I think they'll pay it in the end as it's a case of 21 year old Cancelo for 40m euros or 28 year old Darmian who is arguably already not as good for 25m euros.

Cancelo is 24 not 21, he was in the same youth teams as Costa and Cav for Benfica.

Thought he was younger than that, but still my point stands with the comparison to Darmian who would cost only 15 million euros less.

Nothing new mate. Although I tend to just watch the rumours and reports come in and get clarification tbh. Believe the Rui deal to be a matter of time but with how it's come about everyone's a bit quiet on it.

Sounds like he appears to be back tracking and preparing himself for the possibility that Juventus and Valencia won't agree, thus he'll be sold to Wolves.

We will sign this guy I think because Juventus seem like they do not want to pay the price Valencia are asking for we are willing to pay

Agreement in principle between Joao Cancelo and Juventus. The Bianconeri are now waiting to sell Cerri, Mandragora and Sturaro to pay the 40m € that Valencia claims. [Sky Italia]

So in two weeks, Juventus need to sell three players to have enough for the 40 million upfront that Valencia wants.

If that’s true it doesn’t change anything much. Juve still don’t have the money and you wonder how long Valencia can wait.

This is one of the potential benefits of FFP.
If Juve have to sell 3 players to give themselves buying credit, it prevents the biggest clubs from hoarding expensive players and forces movement.
Juve will need to bring in new players of lesser value and try and improve them. To do that they will have to play. That's the price of getting a Cancelo for 40 million Euros, but also the price of PSG having a bloke like Guedes and being tempted to sell him.
Those clubs can obviously afford to keep all their players if there was no FFP, but they now have to make a choice on priorities and manage within some sort of artificial budget.

A lot has been made of the likes of De Bruyn and Salah not getting a real chance at Chelsea, but they got their moves out to blossom somewhere else and people can actually see them playing football which is the whole point of everything.
This is where Mourinho was right, Chelsea had to make a financial decision to bring in players to win the EPL, and those other players were not priorities at the time so had to be moved on.
I'm sure he would have kept them in the reserves for a few more years if he could have done, but the rules forced them to be moved on so they could get on the pitch somewhere else.
You can easily see why football agents love FFP ! It guarantees them work.

If Griezmann is now staying at AM, then they will not want Rodrigo and Valencia have thetefore further reduced their options to get the FFP cash by deadline day....?

Thus further improving our chances - as the hassle free option....?

I think the longer it drags on the more likely he will come to us. But he would prefer Juventus as they are in the champions league.

Give it 10 days then move on to next target for me

Thing is with the FFP factor, him coming to us would probably happen after June 30th anyway. Until then it'll be a case of Juventus making an offer, Valencia rejecting it because they want the cash then Juve seeing what they can find down the sofa and going back with a new bid

Who knows what’s going on. On Italian tv yesterday that Juventus have agreed to sign Savic from Lazio and also Cancelo from Valencia. Savic was an £80 million target for Man United, so Juventus wouldn’t seem to be hindered by ffp if that is correct?

Just saw Juve want Patrick Van Aanholt but he plays on opposite wing to Cancelo so won’t hinder them moving for him. Although 25 mill is being quoted not sure they can afford both

Depends on the complexities of the deal. Valencia want 40 million euros now for Cancelo due to FFP. Juve can negotiate other deals on loan to buy agreements, or pay a smaller amount upfront and the rest in future accounting periods.

If Juve didn't have a problem paying, this would be done. If he goes to Juventus we will find someone else and I'm sure we are looking and negotiating for alternatives now.
