Really looked close to old form last night!

A couple of direct runs with the ball sticking to his feet like glue. Great to see.

Oh, and happy birthday too young man.

In terms of our wide forwards making the step up to this league, Diogo has shown that he's cut out for it. That says a lot more than I thought it would at the beginning of the season.

The thing is I don't see Jota as the same category of player as Cav, Costa or Traore. For me Diogo is a classic number 10 and him and Jiminez could be decent together. Anyway, Diogo is back, that's for sure, and with him playing well we are gonna be different proposition from now on, although we aint be too bad so far this season.

Taking Jota out of the firing line for a few weeks has really rejuvenated him. We now need to do the same with Costa.

Good performance from Jota again. Watched back and most of our effective counters and breaks came through him. I also like the way he wins the ball high up the pitch. For me, the front three look more cohesive and compact when he plays. He's looking less rushed/more composed when he gets in and around the penalty area too.

Said after the Cardiff game I thought we needed to be playing him and/or Gibbs White as the inside forwards to help link midfield and attack and carry the ball forward with intent. Glad they've both taken their chances over the last week. They'll both be very important players for us this year and beyond.

Our attacking barometer well and truly has his confidence back.

Confidence can manifest both on & off the ball and it seems that both his movement (tenacity, runs into the box) and his time on the ball (touch, dribbling, finishing) are back to the Jota of old. This is a huge development for our goal scoring potential.

Lovin' the Diogo Jota of last season is almost upon us. I was his biggest critic until dropped/injured - I even quoted some stats from Opta on here that pretty much proved (statistically) he was our worst player of the season up until that point - gave the ball away more than any other player, created no chances, had no chances at all, no goals, no assists, most ineffective tackles etc etc - but the last 2 games he has been the player we're all used to...

I reminded myself of this video just a couple of weeks back while bored in hospital, and it gave me a lot of confidence that there has been something wrong, and hopefully it was temporary. Take a look, it's Jota - playing under Nuno 2 years ago - against the Premier League champions as a 20 year old - and he was immense. Absolutely on fire. So, it's good to know he can do it at this level, and now we're seeing it...

    Love him to ****ing death....

IMO he never left, the difference is he has a left footer behind him, on the left. That gives both players options, either one can cut in or go wide, so the opposition have to give them more space as it's not nailed on what they are going to do.

It's like having Jota n Douglas again.... 'Let me get my umbrella'

I don't agree with the Jonny thing at all. Jota couldn't do a thing right at the start of the season, even simple lay offs.

He confessed to bring very nervous against Everton and I think it's taken him this long to shake those nerves off. Simple as that.

Previously he looked like a player trying to prove too hard he belongs in the Prem. Now he looks like a player who belongs in the Prem.

It was simply the goal against Chelsea. Up until then he'd struggled, had some ok games but wasn't getting many chances. The goal against Chelsea changed him, it just flicked a switch for him and since that moment he's been superb. He's playing with full belief again

Agree. Confidence is such a massive thing with most football players. The inner belief can change mistakes to great passes, misses to goals, and mistimed runs to being there when it matters. That one goal could change an entire season for us- fine margins can be so vital. Here is hoping that is going to happen for us.

It is the directness for me. He isn't doing so much sideways crap and is just running at people, where his devastating low centre of gravity and quick feet can really hurt teams. His first touch has always been a little bit meh but once he gets it under he is a nightmare to defend.

Agreed . He’s a strange player . Doesn’t have much flare but is just so direct at his best and has a go.

Always surprises me why all wingers don’t have his attitude . No defender likes being run at with the ball.

He was just so shot of confidence earlier in season, like costa is now , and no surprise that the mix had already seemed to write off both players up until last week.

I always think with Jota, you know he’s having a good game if he’s got that bit of devil in him, for a little forward he ain’t bothered about getting stuck in. Last two games he’s been great at that.

Thought he was having a good game in the Chelsea game before the goal.
He couldn't do 1 thing right before his break, looked like a non footballer! Maybe the extra space has helped him as well, not sure.

That run he did for Doc's goal - we saw him do that a lot last season, causing utter mayhem in the opposition defence. It reminded me particularly of the one he did against Villa at Molineux when Bonatini scored. Let's see a few more of them

It’s not just his running at defenders with the ball tho. He has this thing when, whilst running at defenders, he almost stops, causing the defender to stop, and the he goes again putting the defender proper on the back foot. It’s brilliant. Never seen him play live but, from the videos I have seen, a certain george best used to do the same.

Great to see him back on form. I think he’s vital to us. If he plays well ... we play well. It’s not only his ‘dinky’ runs but for me he also gets stuck in and mixes it up in midfield ... offering much needed support to the 2 central midfielders. Go Diogo ... Go Wolves!

Exactly what I thought. The 'Doc's goal any angle' video shows it perfectly. If proof were needed that Diogo is back that's it.
