I answered yes because, whilst i appreciate it is not a season defining game , it is arguably the 1st time we have deservedly beaten a top premier league team in our 5 years in the prem.

Yes we had wins in the MM era, but they were all 'fortunate' wins (off Elokobi's **** etc) and didn't showcase us as a quality footballing side like the 2nd half did.

Lose Sunday and it'll be history as another raft of threads are opened asking if Nuno is a one-trick pony etc, etc.

It's the timing not rather than the result.

Surely any January signings , will be finalising decisions around now, a string of losses is ( say) a worrying sign to a £20 million striker playing in Italy .

But beating Chelsea a top 3 side - says we can have it in us to go far.

This performance was very MMera-esque. Yes there were moments of quality, and it was great how we managed the game when we went in front; but didn't we only have something like 6 shots all game? How much was it about us forcing the issue and how much was it about Chelsea switching off? How many off the substitutions were about getting another man behind the ball?

Personally I think we have performed much better at other times this season and not got anything points-wise from it. And it is an important 3 points but only as important as any other 3 points in the context of the season.

I can't agree that one win is as important as another as its only worth three points.
Momentum broken and team spirit turned around is very important .

That happens every time you win or lose though. Lose against Newcastle and it will be the same.

It was a superb result as it stopped the rot, provided some much-needed confidence and the victory arose because Nuno did change his philosophy. There was a bit of hoof and the formation changed a bit. That for me was exceptionally positive. Although I didn't see the match and only have the highlights and comm to go on it appeared that we increased the pace of our attack as a result of his tweaking.

In answering the question, it was an important result but more importantly the changes leading to an improved performance were what counted rather than the result itself. Taking the full burden off Jimenez is what I wanted and for MGW to play as No 10 to facilitate this was what was required. I'm glad that Nuno listened to my advice but his dilemma is to decide what needs to be done next.

Yes, I think it was very important. It shows that we CAN beat teams in the top 6, and that, after a big wobble, we ARE, after all, a team to be reckoned with at this level. For me, this result could be a turning point this season, as it will fill the players with confidence, especially as we were losing for more than half the match.

Not sure whether it was season defining but for me it had a similar feel to the Villa match last year. I just hope we can push forward now and put a few results together.

No we have 19 points 3 behind Man Utd, we are looking up at a top ten spot not down at Newcastle and a 15th spot.
Agreed 100% - you have put in to words what I feel. This was a sea change IMO
