I wouldn't wish injury or ill health on anyone but, not signing Jack Wiltshire seems like a bullet dodged. Most fans said he would end up on the physios table sooner or later, seems to be the former. The very idea of signing him was a very bad idea, a good player on his day but, his days are very few and far between.

On £100k a week for 3/4 years I definitely think so. We got Moutinhio for a bargain price instead for starters! A couple of West Ham fans were saying to me a few weeks ago that he looks like a busted flush.

Had West Ham written all over him as soon as he was available. Overpaid, unfit, overhyped, almost certainly going to end up being a waste of money.

I don't know how and why they keep doing it to themselves over and over again.

    Injured again? That's not good.
There's nothing better than momentum in football, but when things aren't going for you it's very difficult to turn it around. I fear for West Ham this season. I think it could be their turn.

Their summer spending was pretty crazy really? £100 million and their central midfield is still dire, whilst they don't really have a decent out and out striker either (Arnautovic isn't really and Carroll is perma crocked). Wilshere on paper sounded like a decent signing (well if you listened to the pundits who absolutely love 'Jackie'), but it always carried a big risk IMO. His injury record isn't the best for starters and I suspect he has always been a little overrated if I'm honest. I bet he wasn't signed at the request of Pellegrini either.

My Hammers mates were saying he look slow, unfit and off the pace (like he's back smoking 20 a day as one suggested). It's early days but it doesn't bode well does it? West Ham have Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and Man Utd all coming up in the next few weeks. Good luck with that, they could be looking at a big time crisis. Their own fault really.

I think im happy about it more for the fact that people cant spell his name more than anything. With Batth being off as well its made the Wolves side an almost error free zone - only Doherty left that seems to cause people trouble :D

Sorry Sephiroth, I usually try to be scrupulous when posting, can I blame predictive texting this once?

When I saw bullet dodged I expect to read a thread about Jack Butland. He produced some good saves the other night but also some scary scary moments.

You say that - but @wolfgar has spelt Moutinho wrong in this very thread!

Besides, he didn't play at all well against us the other day. So glad that we avoided him on that score alone.

I think Butland is a good keeper but has had a rough year. But in Patricio I genuinely think we've got one of the best keepers in the league, top five for me, which is amazing to be honest.

I have a certain amount of sympathy for Jack, his run of injuries is horrific for a lad who showed so much promise at 18.

I couldn’t remember who it was but I’ve been confused by reading about Mourinho playing for us more than once!

More like a 50cal armour piercing round dodged to me. Not only is he always injured but I don't think he is any good anyway. All hype.

Definitely a bullet dodged. Apart from his physical issues it is mentally very tough to have injury after injury and inevitably hits confidence. At 100k a week West Ham are welcome to him. Moutinho may only be here for a couple of seasons but he is a class act.

If Sick Boy from Trainspotting ever did an updated version of his "had it, lost it" speech, Jack Wilshere would definitely be in there.

Don't think we were ever actually interested anyway, the current version of him doesn't do anything that we'd want.
