Ok we all rightly rave about Ryan's brilliant challenge, but Boly's was nearly as immense and prevented a certain goal.

Sme think it should have been a penalty, but interestingly on Sky Sports today they scrutinised it very closely repeatedly, including that ex-ref, and Danny Higginbottom, who both concluded...............great last ditch tackle.

So kudos too to Big Wily.

Clocked its greatness straight away when watching MOTD.

Yet the Pros on there (and some on here) insisted it was a pen after reviewing it over and over.

It was clearly a briliant tackle . Boly is a fantastic defender.

I thought it was a penalty at the time tbf. About the only thing the ref got right it seems.

There is a great angle from the camera in the goal.Big Willy got ahead of Morata and clearly won the ball.He didn’t come from behind and come through him .Perfect tackle .Even Dermot Gallagher said no penalty on Ref Watch.

In no way was that a foul. Perfectly timed, perfectly executed. For all the grief the ref rightfully got last night he actually made some huge calls and got them spot on.

Iv watched it a few times and still can’t decide whether it’s a penalty or not. It looks almost impossible to have won the ball before without going through Morata. Would be interesting to know what would have happened with VAR.

Brilliant from Boly but highlights exactly why Morata hasn't found the kind of form for Chelsea he had elsewhere.

Surprised the ref didn't give it though, he tried to give them everything else.

I can only think they're trying to explain Morata's fall but replays show no contact other than with the ball.

Even if Boly had beheaded Morata then Dermot Gallagher would find a way to defend the ref on Sky.

That’s a bit strange. He quite often points out things that are wrong .On this occasion he called it right as did Moss.

In fairness though, if it was one of our forwards attacking and their defender, we would all be screaming for a penalty!

Either way, it showed immense determination from Boly.

Just like Bennett's moment in the first half.

Too right, but great to have an anti-Wolves agenda on a Wolves fans Forum I guess.:(

Definitely no penalty from my view in SL1 and having watched it several times again today definitely NOT, I'll take your opinion over WATW I guess.;)

I've watched it a few time including watching the whole game again today and can't see that Boly touches the ball. Interesting that a lot of fans who claim that Moss was biased or in fact "a cheat" think that he got this right despite the "easy" decision to give a penalty if he was biased or cheating.

The weird thing is the ref gave a goal kick so presumably he either thinks Boly didn't touch the ball or did and played it on to Morata? One of those where its either a corner or a pen you would've thought?

I have to be honest and say I think it was a penalty. Admittedly I haven't seen many replays or alternative angles.

anyone got any zoomed in vids?

I thought the below suggested it was a pen...

    Super commitment from Boly regardless

To be fair, he is marking morata isn’t he? I’d be disappointed if morata got in to score there .

Bennett on the other hand was covering someone else, put everything into his run and tackle, and timed it perfectly , and even better hurt Willian.

That was the turning point in the game for me. We weee lacklustre and we’ll off the pace before then. After that, Chelsea seemed to have a bit of a fear factor.

I think you see this early second half when Willian puts one over bar early on, instead of taking some touches for a more straight forward one on one

Great tackle. We have made some unbelievable tackles this season. Bennett and Boly last night and a crunching tackle from Coady against Huddersfield in front of the south bank springs to mind.

Love a great tackle, such an important part of the game we must not lose!

The fact is it could easily have been given as a penalty. It was a very difficult challenge to assess especially from the angle the referee viewed it from. And let's not forget he doesn't have the benefit of countless slo-mo video replays. So...: " Well Done Ref' "

I've watched it about 10 times now. Watching it live (on a stream) I immediately thought great challenge. But then having watching it back, it looks like a pen. To be fair, not sure any Chelsea players asked for it. I heard on commentary that Fabregas was in the ref's ear about it but he spends his whole game in the ref's ear. Great player, but a moaning ******.

A tackle constitutes contact with the ball. Boly didn't get a touch and in my opinion made contact with morata. Think we got away with that too be honest.

There was a definite touch on the ball first, therefore its a legal tackle.

To be fair to most Chelsea fans they lay the blame at morata and not that it was a foul

I think he catches Morata just before getting a toe on the ball. Ah well! We had a few dodgy decisions go against us last night.

Also, it's hard for Moss to be certain whether Willy got the ball or the man, which he needs to be to give the penalty.

Isn’t always that simple, Jagielka got plenty of the ball when he was sent off first game of the season. Danny Batth at Bristol too if my memory is correct.

I think it was a pen and if we were the attacking team I guarantee just about everybody would have been going mental about it

But it wasn't so who cares!!

I haven't seen an angle where Boly touches the ball. But his effort and thought to do what he did, whether he touched it or not deserves plaudits to prevent a certain goal.

Another interesting one was Moutinho in the lead up to Raul's goal.
IMO the ref would have given a foul. It could be argued it was a foul in this day and age (I'm old school, but they give fouls these days for this sort of innocuous thing).
But this happened immediately after we ranted to the ref about the Saiss tackle outside our box. Coady went off on one as did Jota. They gave the ref what for. I believe it's due to that occurring immediately before that the ref let the Mout challenge go. All through the game he was blowing up for a lot less than that (usually in Chelsea's favour)

I’m glad you weren’t refereeing then .The image in the goal shows Boly getting ahead of Morata and just nicked the ball.
It should have been a corner .

    Check the above link.

The ball bounces off from its natural path just after Boly touches it....it doesn't look like Morata made any contact.

I think the fact Morata didn't kick up a major fuss was because he knew.

Just watched the 30 minutes highlights show on Sky then Match of the Day. Sky saying great tackle while Martin Keown a man who was an expert in scything people down from behind says clear penalty.

Also, Fabrigas after stopping Morgan Gibbs White from scoring clearly " accidentally on purpose " stands on the prone youngster then tries to make it look like it was not intended. Maybe this were we are naive as perhaps Morgan should have rolled around screaming instead of getting up and getting on with the game.

The difference being that Boly’s couldn’t have been deemed dangerous even if a penalty had been given, which is what the red was for in both those examples.
