Very interesting that Major Buckley is being recognised in this forum for his amazing team made up of mainly young and little known players. Well merited. We can only imagine what would have happened had it not been for WW2.

Is it coincidence that two of our most important managers of the last century had their football playing careers cut short by war?

Not at all Nick but I remain convinced that Cullis, Nuno and even Mick achieved far more success at Wolves than Barnwell. :):)

    Cullis.
    Buckley.
    Turner.

Ask me this question in another 8 years, and maybe I'll say Nuno.

Yes quite, Nuno has done an unbelievable job with a lot more ups than downs, but he hasn't been here anywhere near long enough to start talking about best Wolves manager in your lifetime or whatever it was.
Three months ago it was all a bit different on here regarding Nuno.

On the season review video for 95/96 McGhee says that Wolves are a club who can match his managerial ambitions and there's no reason why he'll ever have to seek another club for the rest of his career.

Christ, imagine being in the 24th year of McGhee's reign here!

    From 1:01.20

The rest of the video serves as a stark reminder to truly appreciate what is happening, right here, right now under Nuno. There may be bumps along the way but those mid-90s years were truly awful. The usual pre-season optimism followed by cataclysmic underachievement and some poisonous Molineux atmospheres.
