Yes Afobe took his goal well last night but in a way it was a typical Afobe goal that came from him running down the channel. I have said many times that running the channel is one of his main strengths. Unfortunately as a rule of thumb our general play and tactics isn't setup for that type of play. He hasn't got the touch and vision to bring others into play which our usual tactics require and nor is he a natural goalscorer as shown by his stats.

The question is will that goal be the spark to get him on a goalscoring run and force Nuno to put him in as first choice? I think he will remain on the subs bench on Saturday and come on in the last 20 minutes or so depending on how the match is going. He can still play a crucial part for us in the run in. I am 50:50 right now as to whether he would be a good addition if we make it to the Premiership.

Complete nonsense, I'm afraid, conveniently ignoring that his header to Jota - which came as a result of him dropping into space, which he apparently can't do - started the whole move, and he still had the will, desire and pace to get in behind.

I think the important thing was that Afobe scored. He needed that goal, and it could be the catalyst to him scoring a few more in the remaining games.

Would I draft him over Bonatini? Not just yet, but Leo desperately needs a goal.

But we do resort to hoofball when he comes on which sadly is not our style anymore. Nuno will not change the whole team style for one man. I would be surprised to see him start a match.

Bringing Benik on when he did was tactical - gave their defenders something else to think about. Plus the goal has done his self confidence a world of good. I hope that Leo can find his shooting boots this weekend too.

I'd start with Leo against Villa, let him pull JT all over the place for an hour with his movement and then bring Afobe's pace on for the last half hour. Those questioning Afobe's all round play clearly didn't watch him every games last time around. He was the guy that linked everything up in the Dicko, Afobe Sakoooooooooooo.

For me his first touch is his only stumbling block to succeeding in the prem but have you seen the improvement in first touch of the rest of our squad under Nuno and the team. They can fix that and it's by no means terrible just needs bringing up to the standard of Cav, Jota and co.

It was never hoofbal before either, Big Kev Mac dropping inch perfect through balls time and time again for Afobe as he always plays on the shoulder. Neves will be doing the same, as did Jota the other day.

They just need to get used to his runs off the shoulder.

Well done benny, first half was tough but second half as soon as we established we needed to play ball beyond defence for benny he excelled

    Two in about 250mins now

Played very well second half after a quiet 45.

Touch isn’t quite as assured as Leo but worked really hard and was in the positions to score where Leo may not have been.

Agree with this, I think he took a knock as he didn’t seem quite as mobile as in previous cameo appearances.

He will need to up his work rate during games if he wants to turn the loan to a permanent deal IMO.

Still think hes a lazy **** and that our play is better with Leo. But you have to give him credit for today, he made the most of his chances.

Ridiculous post, Afobe is a much bigger threat than Leo and works just as hard.

Dont think he works anywhere near as hard off the ball as he should tbh, but each to their own.

Linked the play better today, some nice quick lay offs, which is an area he needed to work on. He gives us the option of going in behind quickly and Neves will find him more often than not. After a manic start he's settled down nicely in the last few games and now the goals are flowing. I back him to get 10 before the end of the season.

Have to say, Neves has adapted well to Afobe, playing those balls on the floor in behind defenders today. It was something new for him and boy does it show how lucky we are to have him, and it seemed to work great for benik, who scored one and got close from another.

Chuffed for him. More than adequate back up in the prem, should we choose to sign him.

Some people just score goals. Can’t really explain it. He is one of those people.

Different player to Leo, The passes made the goal. Took them well all the same.

    Still wouldn't sign him.

To be fair, the run in behind makes the pass for the first.

I’d sign both him and Leo (and one more top striker).

And Afobe to Neves. Just shows how class Neves is, one thing is for sure he will always have Wolverhampton wanderers on his CV.....

Last time he was with us, he would make runs and no-one would pass it. He pretty much gave up IMHO. I think we will see him put more effort in now he knows we have players who can and do pass to him in dangerous positions.

Afobe is a goalscorer, and now he is starting games he is doing what he does best. And with the wonder kid pulling the strings there will be plenty of opportunities for him.

I for one was delighted when we got Afobe back.....and on our terms.....fantastic job Nuno.I was sure that after a bad PL performance I suspected he would grab this second chance with Wolves like a drowning man and want to show that he a force and give his career and pay check a boost.
However, even if he scores more goals before we go up I think Nuno will be careful with any contract that he offers Afobe.......because maybe he is not a good fit for PL. Possibly Bournemouth was not the right fit for him.
    What do you think?

He is a very good goal scorer at this level. Justifying his loan at the moment.

Not sure I would sign him permanently though, as I don’t think he is as effective in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see what Nuno does in the summer.

Excellent finish for the first goal today. If he continues decent form through to the end of the season then I would say sign him providing he accepts that he likely will be a squad player.
