Dalian Atkinson. Even wrote to the club and told them to do it before he broke into the Ipswich team. Best player I’ve had the pleasure of playing with and against. Unstoppable if he wanted to play ( and that was his problem).

    Dennis Bergkamp.

I'm sure there was a rumour he was a Wolves fan as a kid so I thought he may come in the twilight of his career, a la Denis Irwin

Actually, for the situation we were in for most of the last 30 years pre-Nuno, we could have done (and did) a LOT worse than give Colin the job...

    To play alongside Frankie Munro.
Would have been the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

    Allan Neilson (spurs)

Came on loan around early 00’s and was magnificent, one best playmakers I’ve seen at the club and eye for goal.

Unfortuently he did so well, Watford who were relegated or promoted took him from beneath us.

    Tom Huddlestone (derby)

Another who came on loan and for very brief stint but the lad oozed quality and was evident on the eye, pretty much all his career until last two or so seasons I’d taken him at any point if available

    Andy Carroll (Newcastle/Liverpool)

We wouldn’t had gotten him at this period but he literally beasted us for 3/4 games in a row, unfortuently the lad got judged next to his 35m price tag, but I’ve never seen anyone hold up the ball and win every header how he did vs us at molineux and he either got a brace or hatrick on top - unfortuently his career is now blighted with injuries! But someone who been always judged vs 35m sale rather than his abilities and strengths

David Johnson (forest), Marcus Stewart (Ipswich) & Andy Booth (Huddersfield)

All bagged for fun late 90s at our level

I am another one for Kevin Philips, a truly instinctive striker, exactly what we need now in fact, and he always enjoyed scoring at Molineux we just needed to point him in the other direction.

Realistic - Always liked Shefki Kuqi, who seemed to score every time he played us.

Fantasy - Alan Shearer. Can you imagine Bully and Shearer up top!?

Once upon a time, Jim Melrose.

Used to go with a mate to Chesterfield and a young attacker called Kevin Davies was one I thought we should get (before Bolton turned him into a battering ram he was a skilful winger!) as well as a young Jimmy Bullard at Wigan who was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.

    Loved Andy Booth.

I'll tell you a few others who were great at our level -

    Mike Sheron (Stoke)
    Andy Payton (Huddersfield)
    Peter Thorne (Swindon/Stoke)
    Kevin Horlock (Swindon)
    Ty Gooden (Gillingham)
    Alan McLaughlin (Portsmouth)
    Jimmy Carter (Portsmouth)

Paul walsh. Imagine him and Bully up front

Kevin Phillips. Pain in the **** to us but an outrageously good player.

    Steve Bull.

Remember watching him in the Albion reserves circa 1986 and I vividly remember thinking there was a proper goalscorer there, albeit a rough diamond at the time.

Imagine my delight when we signed him and the rest, as they say, is history.

Every time this thread comes up I just dream of Dzeko I loved him at City and let's face it Roma are 6th in Serie A. I would say Roma is currently a like for like swap for Wolves.. Gerrimin! Might cost 20-25m but he could be the focal point we need with Raul and Jota either side and a bench of Costa,Cav and Adama.
Surely we could get a couple of quid at end of Hause, Baath and Bonatinis loans to pay towards it.

I'm certain we tried to sign Rivaldo in the 03/04 season. What a signing that would have been!

Before he went to Milan? Pretty sure this isn't true. One of the greatest of his generation.

No, I believe it was directly after Milan. I seem to remember him being released so we tried to get him on a free. Anybody else remember this?

    Ronny Jonssen too wasn’t it?

I always wanted Wolves to sign Tony Daley. I remembered him tearing us to shreds in the Stan Cullis game for Villa and I’ve been a fan of a pacey winger since the Tim Steele days. I was convinced he would be unbelievable for us. I was wrong.

When Wolves were linked with Rene Van Der Kerkoff and Johnny Rep who were mainstays of the great Dutch sides of the 1970's and Michel Platini who before he got his snout in the FIFA trough was a wonderful midfield player.
