There was one that mentioned spades. I'd love to get that one back.
Zibi Boniek when he was still playing in Poland pre Juventus days.
Before that when John Richards was struggling with injury was hoping Wolves would sign the young Paul Mariner from Plymouth, a deal that nearly happened before Ipswich beat us to him.
Asa Hartford, Tony Currie, Georgie Kinkladze, Francis Lee.
If we had bought a quality midfield general in at crucial times in our past we could have achieved so much more. But we were, in the main, run by dinosaurs.
Didn't he go into films --Transporter and such ??
Fabrizio Ravanelli, when he was still playing in Italy before he went to Boro.
As if that wasn’t unlikely enough, I suppose I’d have grudgingly accepted any of Paolo Maldini, Roberto Donadoni or Davor Suker too
Carl Beeston. Stoke's midfield maestro in the mid 90s.
I was just about to add Tony Currie. He was fantastic, in my all time XI. And he took the **** where he could.
Also add 'Der Hammer'. Was he the first of the 'unsigned' to reach 100 pages?
Super Bob Taylor I always wanted to see him and Bully together and jason koumas.
Jason koumas is some sort of recluse or something isn't he? Fine player.
I recall seeing Kevin Phillips score against us a few times and wishing we’d have signed him. Met him a few times too and he’s a sound bloke.
Remember when the great number 10 s were in vogue in the 90s? Baggio, del piero Totti, Ariel Ortego, Requilme, Bergkamp. All sensational players . I'd have loved one of those playing off Bully.
Didn't we have one of his sons in our youth set up?
Danny Murphy & Neil Lennon from Crewe
David Johnson from Bury (I think)
Alex Rae - many years before we actually did
Purely for the endless chant possibilities
We were after all of those players at one time, as well as Ian Taylor, Neil Redfearn, Adam Lallana, Dean Ashton, Andy Carroll, Jamie Vardy, Joey Beauchamp and Dean Yates
Always thought he was class and stood apart from most Division One strikers at the time.
Oh yeah- forgot about him. He had a wicked shot when he unleashed it. Also a great passer, used to stroke balls all over the pitch for fun.
I'm sure someone will oblige
For me back in the day it was a Sidwell, Redfearne midfield driving force, we signed Geoff Thomas and I thought this is it....
Michael Johnson from Man City *facepalm*
Now for the one which will get my mocked but I actually think we’ll sign Ronaldo for a season in a few years time......
How many years?
Maybe in 2 or 3 years when he’s proper old.
I know it’s daft etc etc but he is Gestufe’s top client and bought Mendes an island as a wedding present!
Always liked Knockaert and Forestieri when we were hanging around in the Championship. Top players at that level, even if the latter is a bit of a ****.
If you know, you know
Two guys impressed me in high scoring games at the Mol. The first was David Johnson in the Taylor era. The second was actually Tammy Abraham in the 3-3 draw early last season.
Peter Reid in his prime would have been great for us.
The Valencia midfielder who is an absolute machine . Kondogbia
Phil Neville (post Man Utd).
Three players I used to see turn out for the reserves I wish we'd signed :-
Māris Verpakovskis looked good on trial.
Ricky Van Wolfswinkel too.
Or Hannes Wolf and Marius Wolf from Germany.
Alex Sandro from Juventus. His full name is Alex Sandro Lobo (Portuguese for Wolf) Silva.
Was a huge proponent of Huddlestone in our first season back in Prem first time around.
In the mid ninties, wanted Leaburn and Bowyer from Charlton, Whittingam (on a permanent, I know we loaned him a few times), Aldridge from Tranmere, Darren Huckerby and Shaka Hislop (after his blinder for us in the Santos Bully testemonial). Up until we got Nuno I always wanted Jordan Rhodes..... but not anymore!
Separate names with a comma.
