Boxing Day away to Bristol Rovers at Twerton Park (not Eastville, thanks Macman) I remember standing as far to the side near the exit as possible as I was genuinely scared that there were too many Wolves fans packed in the away end and the fencing and walls looked like they were ready to crumble. And my school mate Andy Reece playing for Rovers after Hibbit had recommended that they take a chance on him.

    Edit: Twerton

Remember that year Bully scored something like 15 goals in 4 or 5 games. Still my favourite season plus the 87/88 season ,purely because of what went on before. Good times

Somethin like 4 against chesterfield, 3 against gillingham, 4 against pne in about ten days.

We could win 4-0 and if Bully hadn’t scored we still felt a bit robbed

God I ****in loved that man

Right. After watching that. Who fancies Kipps, then the Raglan to cop off with a student nurse and take em back to their gaffs at the Royal?

****ing hell mate, you’re giving me bad flashbacks. Managed to get my (Tranmere supporting) mate to pop his cherry during that season doing similar. Told his missus when I was ****ed a few years ago, and she still hasn’t quite forgiven me!

Yes, you’re right, Twerton Park. Corrected.
We had an open end that was only made for about 15 deep but we made it more like 40.

It was also the season where Kenny Hibbitt returned to Molineux with Bristol Rovers. About 18/20k sang his name for the first 10/15 minutes of the game. We lost one nil, our only defeat of the season at home (apart from Torquay in SVT) and we would have won but for Nigel Martyn, it was like the Alamo but more one sided. The following season Martyn joined Palace.

First game I ever saw Wolves lose. I was stunned.
Martin became the first British million pound keeper when he went to Palace.

Your not wrong. Soon changed our minds though . 89 was a great season. Travelled home and away, bunking off school to travel to midweek away games including to Ipswich to watch Bully in the under 21's. Got the biggest *******ing when I got home late that night.
That bond between fans and team was great to see after years of crap.

What a decision by the board to sack Little in favour of Turner! At the time I remember thinking they'd lost the plot, again. Little was doing a great job, in the circumstances. But what Turner did once he took over was incredible. Those back to back promotions were the best 2 seasons. That team spirit was something else too.

That U21 game at Ipswich ! we took six coaches, stood in the Ipswich end , much to the disgust of the locals and Phil Murphy nicked the matchball, which he still has to this day ! magical times indeed. Also Plymouth for the U21'S !

It’s taken Ipswich Police 30 years to find out what you just told them Dudley!

Expect a knock on the door Mr Murphy.

As a 15 year old me and my Dad went to a shed loads of home and away games that season. Think we managed around 25, not bad due to the distance. Banging up and down the old A45 then M6 in his little mini metro. Stand out memories the consecutive hat-tricks in three home games, Bully v Preston 6-0 Mansfield 6-2 and Port Vale 5-1 ...simple ball over the top followed by an aeroplane and forward roll celebration. Great days packed in on the South Bank

That's right just googled it , should have remembered that, however, I cannot get the picture of a blue/green alien wearing a city shirt , was it something to do with Moonie (Blue moon) I wonder ?

Andy Reece was my next door neighbour in Featherstone for a number of years, he invited me to his wedding reception at the connaught with Angie? the day I moved in, which I thought was a great gesture. He was non league then, stourbidge I think, and moved to Walsall ?
