Following on from @wolvesaywe posting a link to wolves vids on YouTube Iv got to say this really took me back. What a season.

The video is cheesy and the footage is poor but seeing the old club shop and a view from the old south bank was amazing.

30 years ago, this reminds of being a young lad and Wolves being on there way back.

If you’ve got 30 minutes spare I recommend watching.

    RIP Kendo.

Good link Brighty. It was a great season after the despair of the preceding seasons, massive credit to Graham Turner for building a team from the Molineux rubble and ensuring Wolves lived on.

Too right and Turner's contribution should never be forgotten, but Brian Little made a decent start to the recovery, sure Bright will agree.;)

It’s amazing mate. Graham Turner should have huge recognition for what he did.
The grainy footage of Andy Mutch flicking the ball on for Bully from a Floyd Street long ball brings it all back. Absolutely hooked as a kid. We’ll never die!!

Don't remember much of that season to be honest.

Caught the tail end of it though after being put into drug rehab by the courts april 1989 :D

Takes me back as well. Just seems like yesterday watching those games, and the ground being like that gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling- difficult to explain. Probably because it was time spent with my dad, and the club rising again after a lot of us thought it could actually die. I know the club is on a massive high now, but miss those days, and my dad massively.

I would say Brian Little stopped the rot of previous seasons. Graham Turner then turned it all around.

Can tell you a story about him when we next meet, my daughter shared a house with her friend and his son, got to know his son quite well, didn't show him in a good light.

I felt Brian Little instigated the improvement and turned the club around, you could see the lads starting to play and a system evolving, I always felt he was harshly treated, but of course Graham Turner really took the club on.

He did. At the time many of us were doubtful about Turner replacing him. While l don't know how Little would have done had he stayed in post, no one can say that Turner didn't do a fine job. Just unable to make the final step back to the top flight...

To top off the season Bully and Mutchy played for England u21s (think they missed Wigan away) and then Bully scored vs Scotland.

My best memory of that season was the November when Bully and us went mad scoring for fun with, I think, 4 hat tricks in the month. Later on in the season we beat Gillingham by 6 and Bully only got 1 which was the 5th or 6th goal and he was getting frantic to score, much to the amusement of us on the South Bank.

Was living in London at the time and missed 4 home games all season but wasn’t a season ticket holder. Biggest problem was getting back from midweek games - ended up sleeping on many stations.

A great season that built on the promotion and double trip to Wembley of the previous year.

From memory most of us wanted Little to stay. I seem to remember us still chanting his name after Turner had taken over!

Very true. Because Little had stopped the rot, most of us didn't want the risk of a new manager coming in. The previous seasons of the likes of Tommy Docherty, Sammy Chapman and Bill McGarry's ill fated return etc had left those us left quite damaged. I even remember chanting Turner Out at the very start! Oh the shame of it! The rest is history. Turner deserves the freedom of the city for doing what he did.

Thanks. I spent the year in Texas - trying to find out scores through BBC World Service. Just kept hearing word "Bull".

Went to every game that season and for many more seasons after
Every game seemed like a home game, good days but I wouldn't swap them for what we've got right now

Wolverhampton Wanderers , such a special club. A club with heart and soul and a club that breathes passion. We suffered so much together and even in our darkest hours, we knew that we would see the light again.

Indeed. I wonder, if you were for example a 20 year old Man City fan, if you could really appreciate their current success. Our godawful times make enjoying the current team all the sweeter.

That was the craze! I had an inflatable zebra that went everywhere, and it was wearing the STAW top.

Ha ha - there I;d forgotten but I'm going to say that started with Grimsby in the FA Cup having inflatable Haddocks and then fans of loads of other clubs feeling they needed an appropriate inflatable object to represent them! Although that sounds like it might be a bad dream.

7th Feb 1987 was the date I always believe the turnaround really started. 1-0 down to Stockport at home and we score 3 late goals. We never looked back after that.

Great times, stood on our 2/3rds of the southbank, shouting crap at the remaining 1/3rd.
Earliest game i remember was kendal letting one through his legs in front of the empty northbank. Not sure who against, possibly Newport or Wrexham??
