Personally, I think this is quite a hard question. Past transfer windows show we will possibly sign 2/3 first team players in the summer. Our best starting XI is:

Patricio, Doherty, Jonny, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Neves, Dendonker, Moutinho, Jota and Jiminez.

If we stick to this formation and you were allowed to bring in any 3 PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYERS into this team. Who would you bring in and for whom. We won't get rid of these players but they would become more squad players instead of cast iron first teamers.

Then with those 3 players where do you think they could finish in the league

When you break this down it is harder then it looks - especially the way we play.

Look forward to seeing your 3 players

    Aguero for Jota
    VVD for Bennett
And Hazard can take Costa’s spot on the bench.

It's difficult from the point of view that changing anyone from our current team seems like betrayal, but Alderweireld for Bennett, Aguero for Jimenez and Hazard for Jota would be my three. De Bruyne or David Silva upgrade any of our midfield three, Van Dijk for any of the central defenders. But that's the way the top six works.

Far more interestingly, there isn't a single player from any of the thirteen clubs below us who I would realistically take in place of one of ours. Vardy, Zaha, King and Capoue might make the bench, on a good day.

But outside the top six there is genuinely no current Premier League player we need.

And therein lies the answer to the O/P question. Two will come from abroad.

However, I suspect that they'll be looking for an English player to ensure that we comply with the regulations.

Outside of the top 6? Zaha, Richarlison or Felipe Anderson. We need better options across the front three.

Fantasy land players then yes, VVD for any of the back 3. Kante for the Donk would make us just impenetrable. Salah for Jota

Interesting to get some views from a realistic perspective in the summer... 3 we could possible buy that would improve the team/squad currently playing in the PL

Ryan Sessegnon. Out of contact the following summer and Fulham going down would surely mean the Championships second best player would be available. Would be amazing at wing back, but could also cover forward positions with 3 up top

Andre Gomes. Everton in a mess I doubt he'd sign there permanently and Barca willing to sell. Would mix with our Portuguese contingent and complete our midfield options

Aleksander Mitrovic. Fulham go down he will not want to stop around. Would cost £30M or so, unless he has a relegation clause, but would be the striker we need to complete with Raul

& Maybe Eric Bailly as a possible 4th choice option. Man Utd probably willing to sell and would be great in our back 3 if his fitness is proven. Would have loved Lindeloff but he seems to be a mainstay now

I’d have Vardy in a heartbeat even if only for 2 seasons, but Felipe Anderson has yet to prove himself, he was awful against us as he has been in TV games I’ve seen him in.
Tom Heaton would be a good signing, we couldn’t afford him but Richarlson (he’s added to his value). Zaha would be a massive yes, Callum Wilson yes, Sessegnon.

Don’t be too hasty saying how good we are only a month ago it was all doom and gloom

I do wonder if we're finished with Abraham. It seemed it was pretty much him or nothing in January so Nuno must have really liked him.

However, I don't think he's a man to offer second chances and his snub has surely burnt all bridges in the summer when he returns to Chelsea. Don't think he'll get an offer as good as us then

    If we're being semi realistic

Otamendi from city - not a guaranteed starter there
    Gomes - Barca/Everton
    Giroud

Mitrovic isn't mobile enough and doesn't work hard enough for our system

Nah. The rationale with Abraham was:

    - Desire from Chelsea for him to be tested again at premier league level
    - Stop gap for Wolves until the summer when acquisitions are generally easier to negotiate
    - Player was in form so confidence was high (most January purchases are for out of favour players who need time to get up to speed and restore confidence)
    - perceived desire from the player to play premier league football (not as second fiddle to Raul as we found out)
    - no direct impact on FFP
    - concerns over form and fitness of Jota (since remedied)

We won't go back for Abraham

I doubt it was a snub. To snub someone it must be intentional. Tammy, his agent and any others who help/guide him most likely looked at the pros and cons of joining Wolves,( probably short term, why bother?).....he’s probably hoping to make first team at Chelsea.
Whatever Tammy and Chelsea discussed during the window would have had the most influence on Tammy’s decision to stay put for the moment.
It was most likely a career choice.

Out of the following, which 3 should be upgraded and drop to the bench? You don't have to name replacements.

Patricio, Doherty, Jonny, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Neves, Dendonker, Moutinho, Jota and Jiminez.

Bennett, Coady and Patricio dare I say it.

Only Bennett may need replacing. Coady too influential a player in leadership role. Patricio more than good enough.

Another top class striker needed. Maybe an additional midfielder.

As big a question is who will leave. I wouldn’t rule out MGW going on a season’s loan if he’s not likely to carve out a first team place. Costa probably. I hope Traore will be staying.

Exactly.... Kante is a smart little package but the donk is a talented full grown hunk.

It would be like swapping Thor with a hobbit.

    Good question.
Best two players I’ve seen in the flesh this season have been Salah and Kane who are very very clever in their movement which you don’t tend to notice on tv. Score bags full of goals and would be worth a fortune in the transfer market, but there are more pressing areas for me to address in our team, and the Jota/Raul partnership is a real asset of ours, so i’d go for:

Robertson - we need better balance on the left. Let Jonny and Docherty fight for the right wing back slot
Van Dijk- best defender in league and an area where we are short. Replacement for Bennett
Kante - need an energetic defensive midfielder in our system to let Neves and Moutinho operate with more freedom further up the pitch. Would prefer Fernandinho but his age goes against him

Those three would have us in the top six replacing Arsenal.

Any 3? It has to be the best 3 players in the league.

For me, that’s Van Dijk, Salah and Kane.

So that’s Bennett, Jota and Jimenez dropping to the bench.

And that team scores a load of goals and challenges for the league.

Uncle Festa. Be careful - you actually read the question and answered it correctly! Agree with Salah and Kane. With the latter having great body movement when shielding the ball and has exceptional timing. Another who was better than i thought was Firminio

Not sure that Salah and Kane could play together. Think l might offer Hazard (non-sulking variety) instead of Kane.

Front 3 (and l know that you can debate the formation we play) of Jota, Salah and Hazard.

I tried to answer your original question in the most realistic way possible, otherwise you're playing FPL

No way are players like VVD, Kane and KdB coming here.
