England U21 at Plymouth 1989

Discussion in '1980's' started by realistic wolf, May 21, 2011.

  1. V Poland, Bull and Mutch both started, not a good game.
Have the fans of one club had their own "End" at an international match?

Yep I was living there at the time so went along, massive Wolves presence. Mutchy was poor and I don't think he was given another chance but Bully looked quite sharp. I've got the programme somewhere in the attic

  4. I went to the senior game at Wembley, I think it was the next day(Saturday) Loads of rumours going round that Bully was going to make the squad.

I seem to remember us getting a penalty down at our end and the Wolves fans boo'd Burrows i think it was who took it - partly cos we wanted Bully to take it and partly cos he was ex-albion!

I remember that well! U23s though wasn't it? Drove Wolves - Plymouth on the Friday night, Plymouth - Wembley on the Saturday then back home. Was Bully not on the bench but unused on the Saturday in the full international? Which England won, goals from Lineker? My memory fades - I was 18 back then...

Hatherton took a coach, we had our own end at Home park ! after the game we stopped at Ashburton on the way home and it kicked off big style. Next day 21 of us caught a coach to wembley to see England v Poland on the rumour Bully would play in that as well ! How gullible we were !
