With the new season fast approaching, Where does everyone go for a drink on a matchday? Pre/Post?

Flying solo for the new season and would be interested on anyone's preferences?

The Stile would probably be my number 1 choice if it was the town side of Wolverhampton but it's a bit far out with buses, so would like somewhere closer to get to.

    Thoughts?

Great Western. Very handy as it's more or less next to the train station.

I'll second the Posada; that's my regular matchday haunt. I've started visiting Slater's opposite the MOTH as well.

For me, The Royal Oak on the Compton Road to meet with my brother and mates pre-match and I think it will be The Great Western post-match while waiting for my train home.

I usually go to the Tap, Still, Billy Wright, McGhees and Goose pre match and then post match Hogs, sometimes the Litten Tree.

Great Western, Bohemian, Slaters, Dog and Doublet are our usual haunts. Also use Posada, Hogs, Litten Tree and Goose if we're on an all dayer.

Not forgetting McGhee's and the Giffard as well for a bit of character...

    My route usually takes me (baring in mind I come via the Station);

    Sunbeam/Great Western
    Moon Under Water
    Billy Wright
    Tap
    George Wallis/Giffard
    Cuban

    then Molineux

    Goose
    Hogshead
    McGhees

    Train Station.

    Usually serves it's purpose. :D

Usually jump straight off the train and into the Great Western for a quick Bathams, then to one of Moon (utter ****e but convenient for a cheap breakfast)/Posada/Hogs/Slaters, then down to the Litten to catch the second half of the early kick off game. After the game it's usually Lych Gate, Dog & Doublet or Slaters.

If I was left to my own devices I'd probably just stay in the Western pre-game and Dog post-game but there's a big crowd of us and not everyone likes the Western (heathens).

The Stile... or, as the Beatles once nearly sang: 'It's been going in and out of Stile, but it's guaranteed to raise a smile'. Seemed to lose its popularity with Mixers a bit towards the end of last season. Or perhaps I just missed them

For the past few seasons, post match, I have been going to the upstairs room at the Lych Gate Tavern.

Quite handily placed behind the church, it can get nicely full with the London Wolves in there.

The Moon Under Water used to be my regular haunt, however the service is just terrible nowadays. The last time I went in there on match day (and it was early) after the side of the bar I was waiting at wasn't even being served after 35 minutes I walked out and went to the Sunbeam and got a pint straight away.

Similar, used to drop in as first port of call before noon and service dreadful even though the pub's half-empty. Service in Hogs far better.

The service in the moon is awful. They will also serve people who walk straight in the pub after you have been stood there 25 minutes or the geezer that knows you was there before him but still asks for a pint first. **** me that ****es me offf. I've had plenty of fallings out up town and it's normally the moon it happens. :tearsofjoy:

Hogs for me, good balance of ale & space to breathe..

Service can get slow closer you get to kick off.

Tip: Always buy 2 beers instead of 1.

The Moon is depressing and the beer is unimaginative. I go to the Sunbeam from the station and then on to the Clarendon, which nobody else has mentioned but the refurb there is tasteful and the beer is great. A proper Wolves pub. I also love the Combomere but it's queues can stretch halfway across the road as it's tiny.

Western pre game with my dad. Usually have a quick one in the NB bar when we arrive and have one back in their and the Western before the train home.
